Death Wobble
Published (2009-12-15 14:41:00)
For my tires, when I closely inspected the tread it was apparent for me. The lugs of the tire wore uneven, more on the back side and in sort of a wavy pattern. Sound weird but true, the death wobble was gone. And the once front tires wore even again. Haven't had an issue with weird wear again, so I think my alignment caused the weird wear which caused the 'death wobble'.

just chaulk the tires if you are doing just one side at a time. Not to say $hit won't happen but tha is all I usally do when pulling CA's one at a time. I cut the old bushings out with a sazall on 2 sides and then put a little gear oil on the new bushing and use a vise to press into the RE joints.

No shimming needed. If the pinion seal is not leaking you can just zap the nut off, pull the yoke off (this may require a puller or tapping the ears with a hammer) replace with new. Use locktite on the nut and torque it properly.

Comparable price to the Clayton and not as good of components. If you have access to a welder, go with the clayton: http://claytonoffroad.com/product_in...roducts_id= 119 If you have to stick with the bolt-on go with Rubicon express or Iron Rock

I recently purchased exactly what you're looking to buy. 2006 unlimited rubicon. The rumors about the axles are true: the ring & pinion are the same as a standard low pinion Dana 44, but the rest of the axle is the same as a Dana 30. Luckily, a Dana 30 can use the same shafts and u-joints as a 44, so the only major concerns are the knuckles, brakes and bearings. There are aftermarket solutions to...
