Is there a free wi-fi connection...

In the dorms, no, it is not free. You have to register with ResNet, and you are charged. However, cable is free. On campus, like in the school buildings, it is free. All you need is your school ID and password.

I believe you have to register with ResNet to be connected and there is a charge of about $96 per semester. There is wireless across most of the campus but wired in the dorms as in many schools.

KU is a wonderful midwestern flagship. My S also had Mizzou, OU and Iowa (only one we didn't visit) on his list and in the end chose KU, although he knows he could have been happy at any of them. He just really felt at home on the KU campus. As you noted, the campus is gorgeous, and since (unlike the rest of KS) it is high on a hill, the views are stunning. School spirit abounds and ...

My S loves Oliver Hall. It has its own dining hall and is located right next to Allen Fieldhouse and across the street from the rec center. It isn't the nicest or newest dorm, but it has a great location. Lots of outgoing kids live there.

My cousin is a huge hoop fan, and he has been thinking about attending Kansas for their reputation of basketball program. I have reminded him there are some other premier b-ball programs such as UNC, Duke and UCLA. But he just loves jayhawks! Can you guys try to convince him?

KU admissions (like many large publics) is based on the numbers, they don't look at essays and resumes. If you meet the requirements, you will be admitted! My S is also OOS and heard back very quickly (email first then snail mail packet) 2 years ago. I don't know if you saw this, but if you send your test scores ahead and meet the requirements, you can be admitted within 48 hours. My S ...

No merit here but it is very nice that they have the tuition compact and you know your 4 year tuition rate when you start. R&B ratebcan also be locked in for a 2 years. My OOS student has been VERY happy at KU.

Here are the deadlines listed on the KU site. They do not have an ED policy so I think all decisions are non-binding. If you check under the admissions requirements you will see that you can be automatically admitted within 48 hours to CAS or Engineering if your test scores are on file when your app is received and you meet the requirements. Two years ago, my S received a congratulatory ...

My S, from New Hampshire, just completed his freshman year at KU. Many of his friends are from Kansas but he also has friends from Ill, Minn, New Mexico and NJ. I think about 25-30% of the student body is from OOS. He has found everyone very friendly and welcoming and loved his first year. Lawrence is a great college town.
