Thinking about the sales guy who keeps posting the austin luxury apartment link - someone needs to post an "older and smaller dumpy buildings" link - that does sound like a quieter option!

Hi, I am a parent, son applying to UT for CS Major. Wanted to know if applying by Nov 15th is recommended rather than Dec 1? He has to still write the Essay A and B. His Common App essay about a passion can be tweaked to go in as one of them? How important are essays in general for UT AO? Not much time left now.......

that really sucks about your class rank... you will most likely get cap'd mostly because of your test scores. i would recommend taking the ACT, its more math/science based, which is clearly your strong suit. what happened on critical reading and writing on your SAT?? your math score is reallyy high.. or just retake the SAT and hopefully improve the other sections. best of luck

I have always heard around 1 to 1.5 pages typed, single spaced. So yes, I guess that would be about 600 to 1,200 words.

PCL on the main floor. Select the PCL color printer when the pop up box comes up. The cost is an amazing 80 cents per page. Yikes!

Although I am not beginning to apply, I will be beginning this fall. I choose UT because of the combination of low tuition + great education + lots of fun. I chose business because the school was highly ranked in my state of Texas.

Yes there is a social scene, a very active one I might add. You can do a great variety of things: ranging from going to parties to playing cricket at 3 am in front of the tower. There are a lot of parties. Yes, it's a diverse community.
Campus is excellent
Academics are phenomenal
Parking is a nightmare

Well, on campus I like The Pita Pit (mmmm....fresh), Schlotzsky's Deli, and Kerbey Lane Cafe. There are also numerous Thai and Chinese places, if you prefer that type of cuisine and a more dinner-like feel. I personally would recommend Crave Thai & Sushi Bar and Madam Mam's Noodles & More.

Overall, it really depends on the person. The " top rank" is more of the overall popularity and history of the particular greek group.
But here is how it is at Texas, for the most part.
For fraternities, there is a "top 4".
(1) FIJI, SAE, KA, SIG EP.
-FIJI is probably known for having good parties and an awesome house.
-SAE, SIG EP also have great houses, and ****, so does KA.

YES, I was a CAP student. I went to UTSA and now go to UT. UTSA was not as bad as people say, but I had negative attitudes about it because I knew I just wanted to be at UT.
I say go for it, unless there is another college you would want to go to. UTSA is extremely easy, I got a 4.0 without even putting a huge effort. At UT I try way harder and I don't think I am even going to make any A's. UT...

Nope. UT has several college-specific scholarships that are given out to upperclassmen who perform well, but even those have some amount of need.
I got a $500 merit-based scholarship from somewhere at UT, it appeared in my financial aid package, and was the entire financial aid package. I have no idea where it came from. I don't qualify for anything that is need based.

ZBT is around $3750 per academic year.
And many frats do not do spring rush.

It is not a problem. The math readiness proof can come in later, it is just for placement.

What is your class rank? That's the most important factor.
But regardless of your rank, I'd say you'd probably get CAP'd.
