The Summer Supplement Question?
Published (2009-12-15 21:09:00)
1. It's not optional. 2. Anything you want, really. Something that would tell about yourself and your activities. If you can do this best in a essay, then so be it. (I think they prefer an essay, actually.) 3. You still have to do the summer thing. Don't be too repetitive. Hope that helped.

Yay, more P-ton hopefuls! :] I applied for International Affairs at Woody Woo. Yup, four months is a loonnngg time. But no worries, if it's meant to be, it will happen; if it's not, then no matter how much we want it, it won't.

Princeton Engineering Question

LOL@your username. At this point, I don't think you can do much. I doubt it will matter either, especially since there is at least bioengineering track. You can always clarify this in your interview (subtly), so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Just for bragging rights in the future, I'm posting right here that you will get in. I called it. You're in. Tell me if my prediction is right. I liked the essays that you sent me, by the way. I never got back to you on them.

I think we should make this thread awesome. This requires time and dedication that most of us probably don't have.

what if you just can´t take anything out anymore?? i cut mine down to 560 words, you think it´ll be a problem. i mean, i don´t want them to think, ok this one obviously doesn´t stick to assignments... but it is good the way it is, and i mean, what difference can 50 words make??

@ portugueseninja "I have a question, and I don't mean this at all to come across as *****y so sorry if it does! If Yale isn't your top choice, why have you applied SCEA? Is it to increase your chances of getting in? Or just because you can? I'm just curious." Well, Yale is my second choice-- a very close second choice I should add. I wanted to apply somewhere early, and Yale's program isn't binding....

I have no idea how much weight these questions have. As for what I put, I haven't applied yet. What I will put is:
Movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Ratatouille
Book: Lord of the Flies
Recording: Piano Man

Nice idea. I've applied already, but I haven't gotten an interview yet. When do they usually occur? I live in Colorado, if that matters. I have a feeling we have enough alumni here to interview, though. I applied at Yale as well (SCEA), and my interview was about a month ago. It went pretty well.
Where else did you apply?

Nothing offsets anything at Princeton. They have enough stellar applicants to fill their classes with people who have strong credentials in every way.

Another West Point Bridge Designer!
I'm in the top 10 internationally at the moment... I don't see anyone from Nebraska on the list...
You have wayyy more extracurriculars than I do, but worse AP's.
Many independent studies is very good.
4 on the AP Calc AB can hurt you if you want to be an engineer.
You look pretty strong, but no one can know for certain.

Wait. Did you already send them?
Because 1 and 2 are okaaaay, but a friend evaluation is a bit much.
About the SAT--can you sign up for the January one? A higher score can't hurt.

If you want to send in additional recommendations. When I visited, the admissions officer suggested capping all recommendations at 5 (including secondary school reports, etc.) so that's what I did. Submitting a third teacher rec wouldn't hurt if it's good. Besides, they wouldn't be able to tell one teacher rec from another. Go ahead and do it, because I see no reason otherwise.

Princeton is the best, and the whole feel of the school is unmatched by any other. Besides the colder weather, everything is amazing. Ivy league tradition, an awesome mascot, and a liberal foundation.
It really depends on your major. What do you plan to do?

Your academics are nothing special, at best, for Princeton. Since you do not stand out with those, you'd have to rely on your E.C and accolades. You appear to have very little E.C., which lowers your chances even more (not looking good.) Finally, your accolades are obviously clearly exaggerated which will be frowned upon by admissions. If I were you, I'd save the application money to apply to...

They're not affected badly. As long as you're a viable candidate, you're not going to rejected based on when you submitted your application. I submitted my application to Yale the day it was due and got in.
You shouldn't even be worried about this anyway, since you made the priority deadline--that's two weeks early. Plenty of people (myself included) will still be sending theirs in in the ...

Depends on what the admissions office is looking for in a given year. But yes generally your socioeconomic status and cultural background would reduce your chances by around 2% at most schools.
Again this is quite a rough estimate and can never be verified as there is allegedly "no discrimination based on race".
