transfer to NYU Stern!

Did you have science APs from high school that will satisfy Stern's sci requirements? Also, you're taking 5 classes in a single semester (sure its manageable?) I don't know if calc 2 or 3 will satisfy the calc 1 requirement, but you should ask admissions or somebody else on here. If the harder ones do the job, then take those if you think you'll get an A anyway.

i personally think you have a great chance. your gpa, rigorous curriculum, and e.c's seem up to par with nyu's standards. good luck!

is Fordham a good school?
Published (2009-11-14 16:42:00)
I just visited Fordham three days ago. It seems pretty nice, and I wouldn't mind going there. As Alix2010 said, the surrounding area isn't the best, but it's not horrible either. The students I spoke to said you just have to use your head. Any negative reports they've heard have basically been the result of students being stupid. Don't walk around with your ipod in our ears or on the phone late at night. Also,...

transfer to NYU Stern!
Published (2009-11-14 14:52:00)
No, I do not have any APs from high school. I took APs, but my parents said they wanted me to not take some AP tests because "some of the best classes they took in college were the ones they didn't take the AP test to pass out of". Yes, I'm taking 5 classes this semester, have plenty of time to party, and anticipate a 4.0. I have had bad experiences with admissions; they're really adamant on not giving...

Ed question
Published (2009-11-09 19:28:00)
Yeah I think that is what I am going to do… Btw I REALLY hope that NYU doesnt discriminate… I am drawn to NYU because it is different. Their questions are different; they dont ask us about academics or independent studies BUT they ask us who we are. I love that even though NYU is a school they want there to be more to us then just grades and academics. SOO (sorry got off on a tangent there) if they discriminate, for me, it...

i'm not pre-med (family black sheep, my entire family has been in the medical field for three generations) but this will be really helpful for pre-med students. thank you so much! do you mind if i link back to this if a prospective pre-med student ever has a question about their first year?
i guess the one question i know a prospective student will ask you is. . .why NYU for pre-med?

comparing undergrad admissions and grad admissions are like comparing pears and kiwis- they just don't correlate. yes, there are some similarities, but what each are looking for are VERY different.
this is a really general question and hard to summarize.
honestly, go with the school you see yourself being happy with for the next four years. when you're a junior, THEN worry about grad ...

BTW, I am not going to "steal" anybody's idea. That would be stupid and obviously bad for my application... I just want to know if people are using fictional characters or real life people... And how much of a "risk" people are taking

hmm well it depends on the subject. In my bio and chem classes, the average on an exam is often 50-60%, so naturally there's a curve. I've taken 2 CAS-Econ classes (Principles of MicroEcon and Principles of MacroEcon) and I think both were curved very slightly...I remember my average was a 91 in Macro and I got an A, which I wasn't expecting. The intro econ classes were super easy though...the ...

Yes, basically if you're a Stern student, you can also be a CAS student in the sense that you can take all the classes they can and more with a few exceptions here and there. But I know people who double major in finance and math so finance and a math minor is definitely doable. Too bad Stern won't let you triple major.

Because if you have taken the course equivalent at your current university, you will be exempt from taking certain Stern classes. They also want to get a sense of how far you are in your current curriculum and how much you're interested in Stern and business in general through the classes you take. It also doesn't hurt to just apply, the worst that can happen is you waste a couple of hours and ...

While I'm the biggest NYU cheerleader around, you've pretty much hit on a lot of our weaknesses. It seems as if you've really thought it out and I would start putting the wheels in motion to at least LOOK at potential colleges you would want to transfer to.
I would choose option B. It's important to be happy with where you are going to school, because four years is a long time.
I would ...

i got the same email with the ID number. then I went to that nyu admissions forum to ask if all my files/documents are in, they replied that my status is currently " not complete". they told me to keep checking since they have a "high volume of alsdfadandsf".
i think they'll send us another one if the status turns to "complete"
