Haha, only on CC is that even a problem. My old school's average SAT score was a 1470 (yes, all three sections). I scored that in two sections. My new school is like a 1550.

It's not clear what prompt the OP is writing about. However, surely there's some way to respond to the prompt without saying he had an emotion that he didn't have. And in addition to that deception -- which will be a lie -- he's also planning to lie about the depth of his activity in the EC. I'm wondering whether he's really involved in the club at all. How can one be a VP of a club and not have any emotional...

College may find out because anyone who is going to seriously lie in an essay and thinks "Well, I will go ask everybody on an internet site whether I would be found out," is likely to be a person who will let the cat out of the bag by telling someone who may actually tell the college.

Like above poster said, we're not going to be very useful. You know just as much as we do about what careers are "out there"; what you want to know is which ones you might be interested in. And that's not the kind of thing that we can really judge over the internet.

UC Application Help!
Published (2009-11-26 13:34:00)
You need P.E. credits when graduating from California high schools, but not in your California public university applications. As UC acceptance is generally contingent upon graduating from high school, I guess you could, in a roundabout way, say P.E. credits are needed. But no need to list them on your application, and they are not calculated in your UC GPA.

When parents relocate, there's not much a student can do about it. And it probably happens fairly often. Most high schools are probably closer to the new school as far as helping with the college process. The best thing that you can do for yourself is make yourself a good consumer. There is a wealth of information on line and many books available. If money is an issue, I think that there are ...

I don't think you should say that since they'll already have that info because they'll have your transcript and test scores. I don't think it would be appropriate for you to tell the adcoms how to interpret the info.

If I do not get matched with any schools, can I then proceed to apply to another school via ED II? Usually those deadlines are around December 15th which is after the December 1st results day of Questbridge.
It seems it would make sense since I no longer have any commitment to other schools at the time of application, right?

As good of a chance as any other applicant. But you knew that already. You have a full list of schools, right? You're not just starry-eyed over HYP?

Are you definitely taking the gap year?
If No, then you have to apply now so you have a place to study next year.
If Yes, then this can wait, but it doesn't have to. If you are accepted, you can ask to defer enrollment until after the gap year. If you think that your gap year experience will influence your eventual career goals, and may change the list of colleges/universities that you ...

Hello,
They have their own system. Here's what's posted on their site:
"The Office of Admissions recomputes the high school GPA for every freshman applicant.
Our admissions officers use the high school transcript provided to our office, and the grading scale included on that transcript.
Only academic subjects are used in the calculation — English, math, social sciences, sciences ...

Each college is a bit different. Some send a letter only. Some will send you a link via e-mail or through the snail mail where you can go to check the status of your application. It will tell you if they have received all of your required items and will even show if you have been accepted (eventually). I have even heard of schools that text their decision! Check the website of each school ...

Nothing is an automatic rejection. Not taking the hardest classes at your school though is something that will be considered.

No, they will not try to investigate. They don't have that kind of time. They have too many applications to get through, to worry about if you were as involved in your leadership position as you claim you are.

1) The PSAT is out of 240
2) How you can "project" PSAT and SAT scores?
3) Don't just join a ton of clubs to look good. Stanford wants depth not breadth
4) I don't know your GPA scale, but you aren't taking all AP classes for sure, so not 4.0 scale
5) Enter private research competitions like Intel or Siemens
6) Get off CC, you're only a sophomore...

Canadian universities don't ask for race/ethnicity data, and aren't required to. The stats for McGill appear to refer to 82% Canadian, 18% foreign students.
That sounds just about right. Among major Canadian universities, only McGill has foreign undergrads in double digits.
One of my fascination with this whole topic is that we do not do things like ...

he just turned his ipod on and went to sleep.
