INSTANT COFFEE PROJECT
Published (2009-11-25 09:04:00)
Hi all, I am UK university student studying Product Design. I have just started my final year project and I have chosen to do it on one of my passions, coffee. I have created 2 surveys online and it would be great if I could get some valuable answers from the coffee connoisseurs out there. The 1st survey is a general/background questionnaire about your coffee habits and preferences; http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform ... cnRBR3c6MA The...

Why does french press coffee...

I completely agree. We have a jura coffee making machine at home. £750 worth and I think I still prefer the taste from a french press. I think for me, it is the control I have over how much coffee bean I put in. I also love the fact that due to self grinding, you get all the smells and aromas that bring you to your knees. Sub note: I couldn't get hold of any nice distant coffee beans so I bought some christmas blend from starbucks. Put...

It seems counterintuitive, but the lighter you push, the easier it is (same with the lever on my Pavoni espresso machine).

Cupped, I prefer the taste of my coffee from a french press as well. The french press method allows the coffee to "steep" for a few minutes before filtering out the grounds. With a drip brewer, the water just passes through the grounds, as fast as gravity allows. I would assume that's the difference. Maybe there's a better chemical explanation. Or the fact that there's no ...

I've heard a few people say their doctors told them to cut down on coffee to control their cholesterol. I figure one or two cups a day isn't going to kill anyone. Cut down on the cholesterol in other ways instead. Alan Adler, the guy who invented the AeroPress, refuses to offer any other filter with his product because of health concerns with coffee oils. I don't know how much this helps you ...

We use Torani at work and they're pretty good. For our hot chocolate and all espresso based drinks we use Ghirardelli Chocolate, White Chocolate and Caramel sauces. They're very rich and pull through any drink nicely. Later!

I am drinking new Crop West Java Arabica. I am playing around with some samples that have come in. Aroma is wonderfully fruity and textured for a Java- in the cup (Jimmy would approve), bitter dark bakers chocolate, mangosteen and firm (not quite ripe) apricots. Not bad- waiting on nextr sample which should arrive tonight.

Seriously... there must be literally 100 postings out Kopi Luwak on this site alone. Living in Indonesia, having access to plentiful supplies of Kopi Luak and roasting quite a bit of the stuff has convinced me that really it is nothing special- for sure it is neither as rare as people are lead to believe nor as good. There are plenty of small hold arabicas from specic high altitude, untouched ...
