Is it legal to call software in...
Published (2010-01-06 04:11:00)
Hi, Thanks, but this doesn't fully fit my question. In the example I gave, the customers have Visual Studio on their computers, and they are using it. So I'll repeat my last thread: "Hi, and thanks very much for this reply, 1. Actually, to be absolutely accurate, I'll re-describe the example in more details, to better describe what I'm trying to do (from your description, it seems that it's legal): Dynamically...

Best thing that you can do is to keep the table and structures that you have, and use any of the VS languages to build a front-end for it. There is nothing that will convert your forms. Reports might transfer into SQL Server, though

Creating process is not illegal at all, that's for sure, but programming the object model Or SDK would need that perticular license or permissions from author.

Ok this may sound like a stupid question, but when you say VS, do you mean Visual Studio? Which version(s) would you recommend that I get, because I think this program needs to have a database but I also obviously need a front end. I also am concerned that the express versions may not provide what I need. Right now I have a basic understanding of Visual Basic and all forms and macros were created by the Access graphical user interface (I...

PDF Document Title in Browser
Published (2010-01-03 17:17:00)
Thanks for your feedback on this, PA. After way too much googling, tinkering, and page-flipping, I'd pretty much come to this conclusion - but it is helpful to hear it straight up. Pity, though, that the powers that be haven't made it easy to set the browser title in something so ubiquitous as a pdf file. Ah well, I will look at wrapping the pdf in some HTML. Thanks Again.

Patenting a software
Published (2010-01-01 08:55:00)
I read a couple of people's biographie and find them introducing themselves as "I have 5 patents for xxx." You can tell me what do they actually mean by patents ? Do you think people will patent used software ? Thank you

There are several 'definitions' of 'patent'. "xxx"- you mean the invention/inventive-creative ideas legally registered for not to be violated or freely used. Used software are not patented, I am not quite following you about this As of its nature, used software are mainly for free, and can be bought at a cheaper price on ****, or those that can be borrowed from friends so as not to waste the money.

Mono and oledb

Thanks for the reply Arjay. I thought that might be the case. I have decided to go ahead and write a data abstract class where I can work with Access or MySQL. Fortunately, it is a small project and many of the SQL commands will work against both DB's.

While your correct answer is to call Microsoft Anti-Piracy, and ask them, I'd guess that you can write a batch file that'd fail if MSBUILD wasn't present. Don't try to modify any system files, though

The browser handles the title based on what type of document it is loading. Since you are loading a PDF file straight up, the browser will give the file's path as the window title. You cannot change this in any way. That is just how the browser does it. Your other option is to load the PDF into some embedded object which will display the PDF document.

The minimum fee for doing homework is $500 and that's just to look at it. It goes up from there if any work is actually done. Generally the recommended way is to do your own homework and as the instructor if you are unclear about anything.
