Obviously the slots are physically 16x but if both are used they are 8x each. Again, the CPU only has 16 lanes.

Ram Frequency
Published (2009-11-27 03:27:00)
Thanks Clunk....I bunged the Firestix in and adjusted nothing.....the frequency adjusted itself to 871. Ram was fully recognised and Prime 95 running nicely. All is good so far......Win7 just seems so smooth. Anyone need 2Gb of Corsair ram , used but not abused?

From a french site (59Hardware), I can tell that this board has 2 PCI-E 16x and 2 PCI-E 1x. Link (in french) : 59Hardware - Une carte en H57 (socket LGA 1156) pour Clarkdale aussi chez MSI- 59hardware Edit : Kelainefes, you're right, I didn't see it.

X48 Rampage Ex, was a great board. Should do plenty more that the 790i you have. Memory overclocking might be better too.

Be nice to see if the P57 will utilise the best of both boards, supporting dual X16 graphics.

As many gamers would want full x16 sli then the x58 would be the one to get but if that is to expensive then a nvidia chipset would be the only other way to go and they are unreliable imo.

Hi, Any 4GB kit should be fine, the RAM speed doesn't matter too much unless you are interested in overclocking the CPU , the performance difference of different speed kits is negligable. The BIOS settings you are looking for will be in the voltage control section and either chipset/northbridge configuration. You'll need to adjust the memory voltage (you'll find this in "extreme tweaker --> over...

OK, I forgot 870MHz = 1740MHz (doubled) So, change the question to, 'is running at 1740 OK?' Haven't noticed any problems...........

Honestly P55 seems the ideal choice unless money is no object or there is a specific need. The money saved on CPU and motherboard could be used to purchase a better video or audio card, case, hard disk, more memory, basically anything that will be appreciated more than the CPU power that most people don't need because it won't make any difference to them. On the other hand a ...
