my sony doesn't have LFE connection. I just simply run the speaker wire to Speaker In that's all. I don't want a really boom boom sound...I want a quite booming sound. That is why I'm asking what is the best setting for a quite booming sound?

I accept with information: 1. Use a Y splitter from my AVR pre-outs. Question: I think this will end up "doubling" the bass below the crossover frequency. Is that a bad thing? Can it be compensated? Are there any issues with splitting the signal like that? 2. On some sub brands there are low-level inputs and outputs, so I could route from AVR to sub then to amp. Could using this configuration...

I don't see a problem with it. A sub is a sub. Some auto sound subs don't dig as deep, in a vehicle it does not matter, because of the "room" gain. But then again a lot of home subs really don't do sub bass un-less you pay for a real SUBwoofer. I think the SR would be an excellent choice for a DIY home sub. Later, dude

I can not comment on the subs that you have listed as they are al better than the PSW110 that i have. I would recommend either the polks or the HSU. Also check out the ED a2-300. It is a good HT sub and is in the same price range. If you want to up the budget just a little I would check out the SVS subs as well.

It is a good sub that is a little older. I see it recommended around here often for the budget minded people. Currently Newegg has it new for $250 with free shipping. Looks like it may end today though. Overall it is a good sub for the money. Not as good as the DSW or micropro but they are substantially more $$$ too.

Wow, that's a loaded question. Since you're in a Polk forum, I'd suggest the DSW PRO600 as its probably the best DSW/PSW series subwoofer Polk has offered in over a decade.

Any sub will match any speaker as long as you calibrate it to the rest of the system. You have a lot of space to fill, so one sub might not be enough for you. Try giving us dimensions of what your room is like so we can better try and help you. If you are curious though I would go with SVS sub's or Velodyne.

I'm looking to spend about 100-150 if possible. Color would be black. Uses would be mainly home theater. No size limitations for the sub itself really. Room size is about 15x17. Thanks
