Well I have received two sets of tubes to run in my Grounded grid, and the China tubes sounded best. I am very upset about that. $10 tubes bested more expensive older tubes Well I hope the tube for my buffer comes in soon, and beats the chinese tube in there.

Ok I dug into the speakers today and it looks like I've got the single board design. There's a sticker on the 12uf cap, reading "SDA 1C BE1618-A 4/22/88". Thought that was kind-of cool.

H9,
The post hole size is usually, but not always the same. In addition, some use holes that are not round, but have flattened edges so the post has something to grip on and not rotate. Some others solve that with an extra protruding notch on one side. You could add a notch if needed but hard to add material back in to have the two flattened sides.
Another good place to look for ...

if the receiver is a surround sound receiver I would check the crossover settings. Also might want to double check the crossovers in the speakers and make sure all is hooked up to the right spots. I once wire a set up in a hurry, had all of my leads going to the crossover accidentally hooked the input leads to the woofer, and the input (from the amp) to the woofer input. I kept scratching my head...

Ok so 2x 2.2uf gets me closer to the original. The tolerance on the ESAs is +- 3%, which for the 4.7uf is +-.141uf . for 2x 2.2uf the tolerance on each is +- .066uf, or a stack up of +- .132uf.
So I'll probably go with 2x 2.2uf caps.
So let me make sure I understand everybody correctly. I should remove and throw away the 750pf capacitor, not just leave it alone.? Correct?

If the Audiosource amp is operational you can check the DC voltages,or you can directly measure the AC voltage of the secondary output windings. The LM 3875 works best with a transformer secondary voltage in the 22-25 volts AC range. The final DC voltage should not exceed about 35 volts DC assuming an 8 ohm load, and it should be lower(max of approx.30VDC) if using a 4 ohm load.

What's next....hmm
So, I'm not just satisfied with my setup.....I'm really happy about how it's come out! Tubes burned in, cables burned in, amp is fully modded, placement to me sounds right given the room size/shape, everything works so well together!
I've decided to put off the 'huge step up to a more respectable tubed preamp' and ...
