Pat McCarthy deals alot with Erson cams and sells them. Thats also what I like to run in my Fords. I always liked the TQ30 Cam kit that Erson put out for the 302. Pulls inbetween 5 and 5,500 hundrend RPM's. The TQ is for thier Torque Series Cam's, Flat tapped hydrolic lifters. I ran it for years and loved it, But you better have high back seats. Because it tries to rip your head off and throw it out the back window. It's got a...

I just thought of another stalling issue that cropped up about five years ago. The O-Rings on the lower intake started leaking. First I got an engine light, Code rear bank too lean. Then it would not idle right and it started surging. The dealer wanted $700 to change them, but I did it myself. Got to www.contour .org. They have photos.

And one more thing, If I were to run the comp cam with 268 adv duration, should I run dished pistons? what compression ration would a zero decked 302 get with flat tops and 58cc chambers? And could I run these heads out of the box, or get them worked a little? Ive read that they need a couple things cleaned up. Thanks

We in the U.K. refer to that as grinding dust Swarf is usually stuff that comes from machines such as drilling, milling & turning. It looks like long cork screw springs. a clogged egr passage will cause a running condition. as will a stuck egr valve. heck, with any car, put vacume on the egr valve and see what happens as its idling. it will stall, or come darn close to it. most common on fords is P0401, insufficient egr flow. test the egr by putting 15in/hg to the egr valve and notice for a change in idle. if there is no change, pull the egr, clear the passage in the intake. reinstall the egr valve and retest....

While not symptomatic to the problems that you describe, that car model year are famous for head gasket problems. Trust me... been there...

I think this would be a better combination for several reasons,SBF's by design will run stronger with more exhaust duration than intake and since you will be using this as a daily strong low end and mid-range is important. This cam is a little less pricewise than the Comp so the difference in the heads will equal out. This cam will let you run the 351W and HO firing order also which is a side ...

Going to be a bit of work and expense to switch it over, but you should have the majority of the parts on hand with the two vehicles. I'd say go for it if you don't mind a bit of work and fabricating....

Sounds more like a vacuum leak. Have you had the chance to pull the error codes?

I used to make biodiesel for my F250.
I stopped making it as I rarely drive that truck....
anyway, I have a 55gallon drum of methanol left over from when I was making the stuff.
Can I burn this in a 302? I wasn't going to add it straight, but maybe add a couple gallons to each tank.
if not, ok, I'll end up selling it or giving it away, but I'd rather just burn it.
Thanks,
Drew

It's been about 35 years since I played with a Cleveland block, so a little rusty on info. However, the heads should have a 2 or 4 cast into the corner of the head somewhere if they are Clevelands. Could you have a 351M or 400? Here is a good site with lots of info:

I was having this problem once .I beleave they make more than one style block hugger, not sure my memory ain't what it used to be. You could do what I had to do once(for angle plug heads) buy a header that requires very little modification( dimples) and buy some prebent tubing and just change the tube thats in the way.

BBK has a new intake out now too that's supposed to be a real performer.... Can't remember the name of it, think it was released about 6 months ago or so.... Don't know poop about the ECU stuff----a guy up in Watertown has a 347 with the FAST controls on it, runs really strong. I think Andy the chassis dyno guy set it up, could get you his number if you want?????

Varmint,
I just had this conversation with Mike Forte, Forte's Performance Parts. All of the major, quality flywheels are 8mm metric bolts, as is the Ford line. Two big Chinese suppliers (CAT is one) have flooded the market with cheap flywheels, and they all have 5/16-18 inch dimension bolting. It appears that people are dumping the Chinese flywheels anywhere they can - overall quality is ...
