It has low load when your not moving. It easier to understand when you see it on the MAP gauge in Megatune. Anyway went for a drive last night, was pleasantly surprised how it felt with the rough map on it. Had about 4-5 psi showing on the gauge at times but that wasn't giving full throttle. Weird how it feels like the old engine, with more response when the boost starts to come on. Can't wait to get it mapped properly. Done about...

ok doesnt sound too hard judging by what is written on the qpeng site. Can the custom downpipes be sourced cheaper than what is listed? wiring on post 91 Corrado is supposed to be harder anyone got any info on this? and what sort of money should I be paying for one of the more powerful engines/turbos such as one found in an S3?

My mothers has has two A3's with it and Im completely underwhelmed. Its also sounds pretty crap but then thats in a big heavy car. Could be interesting though.

@ mk3anniversary: As far as I'm aware, the road tax is based on engine size for cars manufactured prior to March 2001. From the information here , anything under 1549cc costs £125 p/a, and anything over costs £190 p/a. I thought the diference was greater than that when I put the first post up. I've seen loads+loads+loads of cars for sale with larger engines fitted, e.g. 1.3 mk2 golf cl -> vr6 where the seller has stated that...

Well the never ending project, longest running thread continues. Car is still running, I still have not done everything for the MOT. Plan is a New Year MOT and tax, but then I keep knocking it back. In the mean time, I have broken a Mk1 Cab for parts and just bought a Corrado VR6 to de-chav. Project "back of the queue" will remain just that.

Far too big. For mid 300s a GT2860RS or maybe a 2871 will be plenty. As you say, GT30 would be laggy. Badger5 will confirm, but I think they only really come on boost around 4k RPM.
I'm running a GT2860RS on a 2.0 16v, which is fine for me and I get around 350bhp (only ever been on one dyno, so read in to that what you will). Minimal lag, but the extra displcement of the 2.0 over the 1.8 does...

i have been looking at using a g60 supercharger instead of a turbo as i think it might be a easier option, to do this i think i would use a 8v gti head, with fuel injection, megasquirt ignition, g60 or g40 supercharger is this feasable? and what problems do you think i'll face?
Can you fit the 16v head to a 1.6 8v?

For that amount of power you can have the AUDI S3 225 or LEON CUPRA R 225 K04-023turbo-ex.manifold-injectors-maf combination.
They will do the job propertly. No change in piston or rods is necessary. AGU has the large ports and 20mm piston pin.
U will need to check and have the appropriate intercooler, tubes for K04, a decent mapping on your ECU and you are ready.
