The mileage for the entire weekend was 31.3MPG including several trips around town at our final destination. Overall happy with the numbers as this was our first trial in hilly terrain and you can not always use up the energy on the way down as the speeds get excessive when going down a 7 mile hill. Also I did not really slow it down. I kept with the speed limits which at some points was 75MPH. I could have done much better if I left the wife...

I just saw a new Forester today. It's huge, easily as large as a mid-90's Jeep Grand Cherokee. And seeing a new Outback makes me dislike how bloated Subaru vehicles have become. Even though I'm eligible for discounts on Subaru vehicles through a professional organization, I would not want one. Far too much vehicle for my needs. (even my current one is)

The current Forrester is a sweet machine, I think it's surpassed RAV4, CRV, & Escape in terms of the overall package, but especially driveability. I'm not sure if I'd trust the OEM MPG readout, though.

We have an 08 Outback and love the car. My non hyper-milling wife get 28 mpg in the city. I didn't think that the AWD was needed, but after a few years of driving it, I've become a big fan. The stability is incredible. Even in tropical downpours the car tracks straight.

Two great things (from my perspective) about the new Legacy/Outback: - Still available with an MT! - The base MT is now a 6 speed! No one else except the high end mfrs is doing that right now. One thing that really, really sucks (from my perspective): - The CVT automatic now gets a full 4mpg better (22/24/29) than the MT (23/26/31). That's a jaw-dropping difference. To me the only point...

Hi Simon: ___I am totally impressed with BMW's Euro releases as of late. Of course all we have in the States is the 335d so far, I suspect it will not be long and we will see a somewhat neutered (emissions controls) EfficientDynamics 320d w/ the 2.0L over here. ___Good Luck ___Wayne
