I'm surprised there isn't already a lengthy Dr Paul Bearer thread in "Our Favorite Horror Hosts" folder... the guy was on TV forever and did a really great job manufacturing monster movie fans over the years. It was the monster movies in the NY/CT/MA markets that shaped me as kid--- WNEW Channel 5's "Creature Feature" was key, but as I said in a thread on Channel 5's The Creep, it...

howdy all, i watched this dvd last week and i loved it! i'm a big fan for old horror hosts and this one has the goods(photos, interviews, audio). i enjoy some of the newer hosts and "mr. lobo" does a fine job on this dvd. i say buy it and experience the best of yesterday and the rest of today. i spoke to the co-producer/direct Sean kotz before i watched it and he was very informed and a pleasure to converse with. this...

The "folk art" label is actually something he lifted from me - it was part of my original pitch for AMERICAN SCARY. The idea for me was that these programs were handmade and all had a regional flavor. We've done a number of panels together. He probably picked it up there.

You aint kiddin Lon ! The stuff Bill's putting out really has the feel of the old Saturday afternoon SCI-FI Theater kind of films. Really fun to watch, and not meant to be taken seriously ! Just the way we like'em. Keep up the good work on your Crypt of Horror !
