I think the whole point of the excercise is the use of state of the art field sequential 3-D with the polarized glasses. Which is why I don't think I'd recommend waiting for the dvd home video version, which historically uses the red/blue anaglyph method of delivery, as far as I know.

There is a certain part of the critical establishment that really loves to see a "big-time" filmmaker brought down; but it looks like they've decided to take out their "schaudenfroide" on Peter Jackson's latest, THE LOVELY BONES. This increases the chance that Cameron's going to get a fair shake.

AVATAR has received practically all good reviews and those who didn't think it would impress them eventually were impressed (after about 20 minutes in and getting used to the 3-D effects of the movie). There is even talk about it being up for best picture already.

Cameron's idea of drama has never exactly been subtle, but I don't see how the theme of "technologically advanced civilization takes advantage of more primitive civilization" is based on anything other than historical fact, across all human cultures in history. There is nothing "PC" about the truth. Unless, of course,...

yeah and if you can, see it in IMAX 3D because the glasses are bigger and more comfortable, it cost more but it is usually worth it in MHO

It kinda comes across as half-Gladiator, half Braveheart, but there are enough Ridley-esq lighting effects that I'll probably wind up seeing it.
That's funny, I thought GLADIATOR was half BRAVEHEART!

According to the director's blog, this will play at both Comic Con and the Toronto Film Fest

the trailer looks OK; there is a lot of 'money shots' involving scorpion-claws, which appear to be the cinematic apex of the 'wonders' on view.
I certainly look forwards to seeing this re-imagining, though whether it can deliver the goods that is beyond my own personal Greek Mythologee imagination,
only the not-too- distant-future will tell.

I saw the film on it's opening weekend and liked it, but as you mentioned, it did have flaws. It had a great cast, but something about the acting in it
bothers me. I'd like to see what they can do with it if it were remade.

Yikes, I must have missed alot of hubbub! Anyway, I for one really dug the original series as well as the Shadows films. I even dug Ben Cross taking on the
role in the revival series, so Mr. Depp carrying the wolf's head cane doesn't bother me a bit.
The hardest role to recast will be Angelique.....ah, Lara Parker, sweet and sinister all at the same time and the most amazing eyes ever. Hmmm, ...

Any film directed by John Carl Buechler has the same effect as garlic on a vampire to me. I turn away quickly with a snarl.

Sounds a bit like Harry Potter meets the Hardy Boys. A mystery, Greek gods, cross country travel, and a missing parent? Could be good as long as it's
handled right. If it's too serious it'll just come off as being stupid, but if they make it too silly then all the appeal of the mystery and the
Mom-napping will be wasted.

Didn't smile during the trailer until hearing " College kids, the other white meat." On the whole it looks pretty dire, but still a step up from
the 'Scary Movie' school of parody.
