I took m78's word for it! But whatever, it doesn't matter - I placed my order along with some other Christmas DVDs!

If I can rent it I will and I'll be satisfied having seen it the one time. I just popped in the unrated version of CONQUEST FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES on Blu-Ray courtesy of Netflix. Here we go! Awesome. Quite a different movie. Glad I saw it.

There is no catch-all approach that covers everyone's life. As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been lucky that I've not been affected by cutbacks and hope that remains a constant. (I've had some friends who were not so lucky.) Even those who are not in a financial pinch are going to have different priorities on how they want to spend their income. As for those who are in a financial pinch, especially at this time of...

I don't have the title in question, but I have a pretty high-end projector. If anything I notice how yellowish a lot of DVD transfers are, to me the BDs look a lot more film-like in their color-timing. I have two BDs that underwhelm, THE FOG and DAMIEN: OMEN II. In the case of THE FOG it's still more detailed and more colorful than my DVD, but has what I'd consider "crushed blacks" and grain that looks more...

And how often does Universal re-release the other titles? Some are coming out again on Feb 2. So never say never.

Nostalgia Merchant Video revived?
Published (2009-11-27 04:58:29)
I noticed a website that sells DVD's under the Nostalgia Merchant label. The logo on the site is identical to the one that was around the 1980's. Is this Nostalgia Merchant any relation to the Nostalgia Merchant that was owned by Media Home Entertainment? Is this company similar to Alpha Video or a Bootleg company like Cheezy Flicks? Karloff's THRILLER coming...

Those episodes off Scream Network have logos on them and a bad buzz in the audio which is very noticible in quiet sections of the soundtrack. This THRILLER set is a dream come true for me if it ever happens.

Glancing through their sci-fi section, I noticed most of the titles showed Alpha's artwork, but with the disclaimer - "packaging may vary"!

I enjoy A MISSED FORTUNE more than HEALTHY, WEALTHY & DUMB.
I like watching BOOTY AND THE BEAST more than HOLD THAT LION! I also enjoy watching LOOSE LOOT more than HOLD THAT LION! (With both these shorts you get fun
new footage, but between them both you also see all of HOLD THAT LION!).
I'd rather watch BUBBLE TROUBLE than ALL GUMMED UP (in BUBBLE TROUBLE, Emil Sitka turns into a ...

If True, It Would Be A Big Disappointment. Maybe PRECODE MIKE will let us know if they will be in 3D or not. Also Will the shorts be in its OAR?

There are still going to be "regular proper DVD catalogue releases" too, right? We may still get a HORROR SET down the line in the regular official
way which would lnclude stuff like FRANKENSTEIN 1970, THE WALKING DEAD, and THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS...

Wrong Thread. This topic should be under Coming Soon unless this is a Direct To DVD movie.

Yes, it's quite possible consumer satisfaction with DVD could kill catalog titles on Blu-Ray. On the other hand, Blu- Ray may be killing catalog titles on
DVD, due to the desire of the studios to sell BDs. It's a scary thought, but the competition between the two formats could actually bring an end to video
discs of any sort. Unless one format or the other fades away, the future may well be pay-...

Welcome to the boards!
I don't know a thing about this DVD. Could it be an Legacy Series Anniversary Edition, along the lines of THE WOLF MAN re-issue also due in February as
well as the pre-existing Frankenstein, Dracula, and Mummy DVDs?

All I can say, Joe, is around this time last year I saw this movie in a theater, and the quality of the print had clearly been cleaned up and was nice and
bright......I assume the blu-ray release has emerged since then, so why the disc appears to be less than it should be, I'm not sure, as the quality source
material is definately in a vault somewhere.

Can't believe Universal would use the photo of BUD WESTMORE's version of THE WOLFMAN instead of JACK PIERCE's version.
