I wouldn't mind citizenship in some EU countries as I live in the EU, but being a senior means that the waiting period is fairly long and probably not realistic.

I thought Moving was Cornerguy1's alias lol. (it's late here, so I'm a bit slow right now haha) I'll rephrase it tomorrow and if the mod closes that one, I will contact a couple admins I know and pursue it that way. I don't want it to turn into a debate (but if it does it's okay). In the interview the father and sister said they are starting to believe there is a prejudice among Italians against Americans, which...

I would take Vancouver over Melbourne any day. Vancouver is the best city in Canada. Very modern, very cool, surrounded by lots of great beautiful places. Melbourne is very boring and I don't understand why people like it.

Neither Turkish nor Greek, but travelled to both about 5 years ago, my take is their is still bit of tension. I remember it costing me a fortune (about 100 euors, including taxes) to travel about 1 hr on a ferry from Samos (Greece) to Kusadasi Turkey, and thinking at the time that it almost seemed the greeks did not want me to go their. I undrestand that their is still some degree of political unrest between the countries over the turkish...

Yes, I am sure. I lived there myself and a Brit told me the same thing. Of course there are also many Brits who don't feel that way, just like there are Portuguese who love Brazilians. I guess it is more older people who have that resentment.

Dubai collapse
Published (2009-11-28 11:49:00)
Didn't have to be an economist or investment guru to know what was going to happen. Dubai is the poster child for excess and bad timing. A big white elephant in the desert. Let's see... Build a cost-is-no-object energy and water dependent artificial world in the middle of the hottest and driest desert and where terrorists could be anywhere... Yes! I shall plunk down millions for a condo on a shaky sand island and armor plate and...

I agree with Moneycat's assessment of COL here in Oz. It's become even more expensive than when I first replied to this thread last year. I live in Perth which is far worse for grocery prices and housing than Melbourne. Every time I visit Melbourne and go to its markets and grocery stores, I'm depressed at the price difference. Perth is very expensive for food (groceries and restaurants), ...

Hi skidamarink,
I'm from the Czech republic!
First of all, we have a large population from Asia (especially Vietnam and China). I have never heard of any Asian being discriminated. Asian people here are considered as smart, hard working people. You shouldn't have any problems. However, nerds are in every country.
Brno is the largest city in the region of Moravia, famous for it's wine. I...

I am an immigrant from the U.S. living in Portugal. I can't see your type of food going over in southern Europe. Local tastes can be quite parochial.
However, Ireland and the UK and much of the rest of northern Europe might be a good market...they are much more adventurous about food. It would be a plus if you could pick a restaurant theme that is already tied to something that Europeans...

You will see people of all colors on the streets, except in the townships. However, I would not say that adults mingle so much. The most mingling I saw was among the school kids. Interracial dating is not popular. Taboo? Not sure, but probably would get some looks. I don't think ...

UK Border Agency | Studying in the United Kingdom
The job market is really no better in the UK than it is in the US though. I don't think anyone would have a problem with someone coming here to study but I do know some people don't like the idea of foreigners coming here purely to take jobs from British citizens. No one has had a problem with me but that's because most people know I came ...
