I see that the German media is just as bad as our own when it comes to making up facts about stories.
It's a myth that they foam the runways for emergency
landings. The foam isn't applied until after the aircraft stops. There just isn't enough in the trucks to do an entire runway, and you have no idea where the plane is going to end up.

Very interesting! I just read another news story about a similar situation with a few hotels closing after people had booked, and they were out the deposits they had payed, which were often in the thousands of dollars.

My first choice would be
Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Fly into Cancun and a short ground transfer to a nice resort along the Mayan Riviera.
While I don't care for the Bahamas personally, it does offer a quick "tropical" getaway. You could fly directly to Nassau or Freeport and stay at a resort nearby.
