You didn't say where on E. Sunshine but there is a nice hotel on the corner of Glenstone (major north-south street that most of the north-end hotels are on) and Sunshine. This would be much more convenient for you and the rates are probably comparable to the ones farther north. Traffic on Glenstone is pretty heavy in the mornings and as another poster mentioned there are a lot of stoplights to contend with. On the plus side, there is...

You're not going to find any true mexican restaurants in Springfield no matter what anyone tells you. They all have their Missouri twists to them. Mexican Villa has to be the worst of the Missouri-Mex, as I call them. Nothing against anyone who likes it, just personal preference. The closest thing to something descent beside what's been mentioned is Ceilito Lindo's or La Hacienda. Other than that, get use to the Missouri-Mex.

Oh, yeah, I remember when all the little resorts were full, the beaches were booming, and there was a lot happening. Back then, Rockaway Beach was sometimes more happening and exciting than Branson - the boom had yet to begin. Our family spent about a week a few years ago in Rockaway and it was so quiet, not that that's a bad thing at all. Back in the 1920's, Rockaway Beach was a big ...

Same here, though we came from Ohio. Lots of Mexican restaurants in Springfield, all claiming to be authentic of course. We have only tried The Purple Burrito on S. Campbell just North of Sunshine on the right (East). Not too bad. We haven't been satisfied with the Mexican grocery stores. So far we haven't found anyone who is making fresh tortillas. Someone in Nixa just posted on Craigs List ...

Yes, the Spook Light is still there. Unfortunately, it has become a popular spot for partiers and the surrounding area has grown up considerably. The museum is no longer there. The darkness was marred by the bright lights of the...

I'm not sure if this fits the bill, but Cheddars has the Cookie Monster. It's essentially a big chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron skillet with ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate fudge sauce on top.
