I'm not a good to ask about what kept me there, as the economy and concerns about money have led us to (reluctantly) give up on the city. I have a kid, though, so that adds pressures that it sounds like you don't need to worry about. I haven't lived in NY; I'm sure it is more laid back than there. I will abide by the ban... but I greatly resent the broad way it's implemented... Many have invested dearly to install EPA certified, catalyst equipped stoves with the required city/county permits. These stoves are certified to burn clean and this was brought up at the BAQMD hearing I attended... so these stoves are not a problem and they are not dirty polluters... Modern EPA stoves are efficient and use a home grown renewable resource...
