Here are some videos I liked on a recent browse through the "Portland" tag on Vimeo, most are short "tests" or simple music videos, but since they're more about Portland than the music that's playing I figure I'll include them while I search for more straight-up documentaries... Fwiw, I have a saying in hebrew script on my left arm. Soon will get a large sun image surrounding it. Won't delve into the philosophy behind it, but I spent $75 on the script and will spend about $250 on the sun. If someone else thinks it looks cheap, that's ok with me . It's mainly for me. Of course, I am a dude. This discussion is about chicks.

What Is It About Portland That...
Published (2009-12-01 17:02:00)
I like that Portland is a city that was built around a forest. There is a reason Portland is called stump town. From what I gather, Portland was nothing but forest before it was inhabited. When the city was built there were stumps everywhere because so many trees were cut down. Now, there is a big city and all around it a forest. When you are driving down burnside in the west hills, or hiking in forest park, you feel like you are a hundred...

Welcome! I'm not from Hawaii, but my wife and two stepsons are, as is my older stepson's fiancee. I've always loved the islands, and I even like Spam musubi and poi, so I consider myself keiki kama'aina . You'll find plenty of Hawaiian transplants here, a few annual Hawaiian festivals and other events, a very few Hawaiian restaurants, and a lot of good Asian restaurants. Several Hawaiian ...

Well, if you complaint is only about poorly done, and low craftsmanship, on questionably chosen tattoos, yes I do have to agree it does sadden me to see such. I have seen portions of a few publicly displayed between articles of clothing.
However, on the whole, (and as a man over 60) I think some of these "tramp stamps", "Antlers of the Hip (AKA Horny @ss)", and just plain old " body Art" ...

Portlanders root for both teams, and both played well tonight. As a Duck I am thrilled at the win but the Beavers have a great team. I hope they are extended a bowl offer too.

I think it may be something about your house. My house is 25 years old and I don't have any of those problems. Not sure what it could be but you might want to talk to a heating and air conditioning expert. I've never heard anybody here in Porland complain about high humidity inside their home. Good luck!

I should probably be a bit more specific, hm?
We'd be moving there with DH's current company, so finding a job is a non-issue.
As far as what we enjoy? Here it's living out of town. We live on an acreage (rent) in a little 3bdrm farmhouse with chickens, a dog, the works. We've even milked dairy goats. We also homeschool and I'm thinking there MUST be more homeschoolers in OR than IA...

Have you ever tried just taking I-5 north the entire way? Getting into Vancouver from I-5 during rush hour is not fun, but during night hours it would be a straight shot for you.

Can't comment on schooling or the IT feild, but weather is definitely rainy. From now until May it will be raining practically non- stop. The rain is not heavy usually, but very light and may start/stop all day long. It is gloomy this time of year, but if you can get past the constantly wet outdoors and gray skies you will enjoy it.
Summer makes me want to stay here forever.

You need to be more specific. There are one hundred things that could be causing it. Are you depressed by the weather? Has the economy got you down? Do you have trouble making friends in Portland? Provide more information as to what is going on with your life(ok now I feel like a psychologist)

Sorry,
I tried to Wikipedia your Madden-Julian Oscillation, and I cannot make heads or tails of it. It reads like this is some sort of Monsoon rain storm that hits Northern California and southern Oregon.
I checked NOAA web forecasts, and couldn't find any reference to a MJO event comming up in the next 3 days or so. When does you sources predict the event making landfall?
