Between Salem, Hope Creek, Oyster Creek, Limerick, 3-Mile Island, Peach Bottom and the one up by Scranton it would be really hard to live anywhere around here and not be within 50 miles of one. Cape May, maybe?

You may find these helpful..... www.4wallsinphilly.com is probably the easiest to use or www.apartmentguide.com which is a little less focused. Use zip 19102, 19103, 19106, 19107 for center city.

Del Co and Mont Co property tax?

If your job is in Conshohocken you may want to also look at some areas in Chester County. Phoenixville, Schuylkill, Tredyffrin, East Pikeland, Easttown, Willsitown etc. You have to look town by town, because the taxes can vary greatly between them, but generally Montgomery and Chester county have lower property taxes than Delaware County. That's not a universal rule, but a general one. No matter what it should be an improvement over NJ...

Haha! Very true, but thanks anyway! The car was useful in the end and as parking was pre-arranged and paid for, not a problem. Managed to drive it over a kerb, into another lane (not opposing) on the way to the airport though. Those NYC roads really need some work. Couldn't see a thing in the rain

Media, Ridley, Folcroft, Glenolden, or Clifton Heights might work well. Try enrolling in a nearby YMCA as they may have some events too.

Look for the books by Salome El-Thomas. His experiences were in North Philly, bu West Philly would also meet your needs. This kind of book is a great guide to understanding and being a part of education, Philadelphia, and chess.

Short answer...I think it depends on each specific Montessori school and you need to micro inspect the teachers, facilities etc.
I had a Nanny that taught at Montessori prior to working for us...she was off the charts and the teaching background she brought with her was excellent.
I have friends that have had variable experiences with their children attending Montessori, albeit mostly positive...

born/raised in phily - NYC has much more to do obviously but Philly is a more condensed version. You'll certainly be able to sample all our restaurants/nightlife - whereas in NYC - it could take you years. Like all cities - Philly's crime rate is higher in some areas. The thing I do not like about Philly - is that it's dirty. I've seen cleaner streets in Manhattan. Here things gets dumped in ...

I think Philadelphia is beginning to stablize in many ways and has good things going for it, however, the problem is while one nabe begins to get better, another declines. South Philly, Fishtown, Inner West Philly, etc are all on the up. However, then you have Lower NE, West Oak Lane, Southwest, etc that seem to hit new lows with every passing year.
So in short, the city as a whole is ...

The car may not be worth your while if your hotel is in Center City.
If you like a good pub, try the Kite & Key on Callowhill and 18th or Fergie's on Sansom St. One of Fergie's owners also has Monk's on 16th St. which is known for Belgian beers. For Italian, I like Oesteria on Broad St. near Fairmount, nice place but within a couple of blocks of a seedier area. There are a number of nice ...

I think you would be happy in the Art Museum, East Falls, or Manayunk Areas. They are all located near Kelly Drive which boasts Fairmount Park, a place that sees many runners, bicyclers, and rollerbladers. It is a great place to exercise while being right next to the river where many Crew Races take place. There are many 1 bedroom apts available in your price range that will be walking ...

It's a big city in a region of 6 million. 24 hours, assuming you plan on sleeping, is about enough time to visit 3 or 4 neighborhoods.
You'll have to be more specific about your interests and tastes.

You can find prostitution going on in almost every section of the city: north, west, southwest, south, Kensington, Frankford, and Germantown. The section with the most prostitution going on is Kensington (under the El). You could probably drive around there any given time of the day and see at least 5 to 10 streetwalkers within a 10 block radius.
Where there's poverty, there will be ...

"Comeback" suggests that Greys Ferry went through a decline at some point. Was it ever as good as it is now? In my 20 years in Philly it was always the wrong side of the tracks and actually still is although there has been improvement.
