I did meet one guy drafted into the Marines. He said it was Jan of 66.
The reason I asked is after I returned from the Navy, many people called me a liar when I said I got drafted into the Navy ( even Navy men)
They usually said-------" you got your draft notice, then
enlisted in the Navy"

It keeps people from getting shot by
snipers now. A unit can send in a tank to clear the streets before foot patrols come in.

You want to be safe? Join the Navy. They have aircraft and they have weather jobs as well. you can
take your pick. You still get to see the world, but you get a hot shower (most of the time) and 3 meals a day without sleeping in the sand! No front line duty for most navy jobs.

I think there must be some confusion here. In fact, enlisted military get allowances for meals and uniforms (tax
free money). Some of these are dependant on where the individual is stationed, and the availability of a dining facility...but by no means are there REDUCTIONS from the paycheck.

My husband and I are going over in November. I can't tell you about housing, but I can tell you there is allot that needs to be done to take a pet with you. Check out this website: http://www.usarj.army.mil/organization/vet/index.a spx
This site has helped me with my cats and hopefully I won't have to put them in to
quarantine.

I like those ideas. How about sections that are branch specific? Things are done differently in each branch, so that might be beneficial to some. Also, how about a section for spouses/SO's and one for parents? I am an Army Wife and a Marine Mom. My experiences as a Mom are totally different as those of a Wife.
