I don't think of us as southern. Living in the 95 corridor my Maryland feels rushed. Culturally I feel we are more northern. When I travel east or west of where I am, the tone changes slightly. For me there is no community feel. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I don't mind that aspect of Maryland.

There's areas in both MD and VA to consider; however the key is to focus on where in DC your husband's job is located. If the job is in downtown DC or along the Orange Line- VA particurly Arlington or Fairfax County might be a better option. However; if it's along the Red Line, Montgomery County would be the better option. A few areas in MD that seem to meet your criteria would ...
