I don't quite know how much of London is 'green' places but It seems that London is pretty green city. Some people have told me that Hampstead Heate is quite and green - what do you think?

As a quick note on British Airways WT+, if you check in online within a minute of it opening (i.e. exactly 24 hours before departure) you can bag a great seat. I flew LHR-LAX a couple of months ago in the front row of WT+. There was a bulkhead facing us and I could stretch my legs right out and only just touch it with my toes. I put my carry-on down in front of me and rested my feet on it and was as comfortable as in my living room with an...

I just saw a movie called Harry Brown. I know its just a movie and they tend to greatly exaggerate, but it showed some horrific crime in London. I've read articles on the BBC about rising crime in London, slap parties, chavs, and knife violence. Can any Londoner comment on the situation in London?

My husband will be in England (near Bath) for a few months starting in January, and I plan to visit him in London for a weekend. I will fly in on an overnight flight, arriving around 10 am Friday and he will meet me as soon as he is done with work for the day (we aren't exactly sure what time that will be, will know more once he has actually arrived there) The hotel we will most likely stay in (on recomendation from a co-worker of my...

Help! I'm going to be visiting London for the New Year's Day Parade. While I kinda-sorta like tea, I am a devoted coffee-lover. So, is there any place in central London that serves a good, or maybe just decent, cup of coffee? Or should I plan to pack my favorite instant as a stand-by? Thanks from the bottom of my cup!

London's no worse than any other city, I go there on a regular basis and never had any trouble. Having said that, I don't go looking for it either, I don't stand in dark alleyways after dark and don't go to seedy bars..

Hey Ira,
A Canadian salary of CAD120,000 converts to GBP68,705.80 (according to www.oanda.com today). This is a reasonable income for London - you won't be living in Mayfair*, but you won't have to live in Tower Hamlets* either.
Assuming you are going to be treated as a normal UK taxpayer (i.e. not as an ex-pat) there are 4 taxes you need to be aware of, as follows:

Its definately worth going business - but $1000 ticket is out of the question from the US. Check aa.com and united.com for round trip business/coach fares to the UK.
4 days in London is plenty.
