Highland Park Village (Mockingbird & Preston) has probably the prettiest Christmas decorations in town- millions of white lights in every single tree, plus a Christmad tree in the center. Then take a drive down Beverly Drive and Lakeside for magnificent homes & Christmas lights.

North Central Dallas area? Sounds like you're near Addison. A LOT of restaurants in that town (most are chains). Plano also has some good restauants (West Plano, off the Dallas North Tollway). Try this link: www.guidelive.com Reviews of restaruants as well as what's going on in town.

I'd look at Richardson itself, it's a nice place. Plano ain't too far off either. Newer but doesn't have as much character as Richardson.

It's not THAT hard to figure out! I have a harder time figuring out downtown Fort Worth than Dallas. When I first moved here I got so lost in Fort Worth the first time I went there, NEVER got lost in Dallas.

Dallas sucks ass! The only good neighborhoods are oak lawn, uptown, downtown, and deep ellum. And the good neighborhoods are expensive. The rest of dallas seems too suburban to me.

DH is from Philly and attended college in Pittsburgh. In the 7 1/2 years he's been in Dallas, he's yet to find any truly authentic place for either a cheesesteak or a 'Burgh style sandwich. Know these kind of sandwiches are the furthest thing from heart healthy, but it's sure nice to know you could find one if you've got a mean craving. NY style spots like Deli News in N Dallas and Zinsky's ...

Look at Southlake, Grapevine and Colleyville. All three of these cities have what you are looing for. Just so you know, $500-700k will buy a HUGE house in Texas.
Grapevine and Colleyville share a school system: Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District
Southlake has the Carroll ISD: Carroll Dragons, Carroll Independent School District, Southlake, Texas

There is probably more diversity in Texas than in California.
Tons of people from all over live here.
As for the rest, it really comes down to where you will be working and how much you want to spend.
You could certainly get some land and horses up here in Argyle, but that much land and building a house won't be cheap.
I know Saddlebrook Estates across the street from me has ...
