I would recommend downtown Decatur (30030)...charming, walkable and loaded with restaurant and retail options. The
rail station is located in the center of town, which will get you to other parts of Atlanta. There are condos, townhouses and single family houses all within your budget. A lot of seniors are moving into the neighborhood for the reasons stated here.

Currently, I live in
Montgomery County not PG County. I'm not a fan of PG and would prefer not to live a similar area.
What about College Park high schools? Specifically, Tri-Cities and Banneker?

Peachtree City has homes in the $200 - $ 250 price range. Look on sites like Craigs list and homes.com etc.( zip code 30269 ). Mostly they will be older homes ( 70's - 90's build dates )but still many are very nice and in good neighborhoods.Actually some of my favorite homes here are the older homes. Many of which border either golfcart paths or golf courses .
