HELP! Want to buy a DVD/VCR recorder so I can record from the tv on to a dvd to watch at another time. I would like to be able to record one particular show on one dvd (i.e. 6 hrs on one dvd). Does anyone have any recommendations. I just purchased a SONY Bravia but I'm not really very savy with the language. Just want a decent picture and be able to watch ...

Just got Toshiba D-R410 DVR with upconversion. Does this have to be hooked to TV via HDMI cable to get upconversion or will component (RGB) work? Are there any special settings on player or TV or does it do upconversion automatically? What if I only have 1 HDMI input on TV that is already being used by satellite box?...

I'm going to buy a pocket camcorder for around $150. I want to be able to add high quality audio to the video afterwords. I will need to line it up (sync) with the video. Anyone know what the best low end software is for doing this? Thanks in advance! MoHoward

I got great advice in the Home Audio Forum about receivers, speakers and Blue-Ray Players leading me to CC to buy my new Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver. Now I want to focus in more on my Blue-Ray Player questions. I will be hooking up to the Onkyo 606 receiver and Samsung LN-T4669 LCD TV with 120mhz. I also have a Comcast Cable Box with HDMI. Sorry so lengthy. 1. ...

i've had cable for years. it keeps getting more and more expensive but unfortunately they donm't keep getting better and better. just more money for the same stuff. i guess their ideas on raising prices are fueled by wanting more money not giving better service. so i'm considering either dish or direct tv. anybody have any opinions? i have some doubt...

I'm thinking of buying this DVD recorder. I downloaded the instruction manual directly from Philips and noticed the following comment: "This unit cannot record images as aspect ratio of 16:9. The 16:9 images will be recorded as 4:3." What are the implications of this ? Will the image be distorted on playback, will the image fill only a portion of a ...

I've just started investigating Blu Ray DVD players. Most appear to require an internet connection in order to upgrade firmware. I've seen one or two with USB ports that can accept a thumb drive (firmware previously downloaded from a PC), but those models have not been my first choice in a player. Players that require an internet connection to upgrade ...

My old Sony RDR-GX7 DVD recorder would record any movie that I'd saved to my Cox Communications (I live in SoCal) cable DVR. The laser went out on that unit & my new Sony RDR-VX535 (tunerless) DVD Recorder/VCR combo will not record any copywrited material. I record these films from pay channels for my own use, since I can't keep up with all the viewing saved ...

I have a 720p Toshiba HD plasma television. I am thinking about upgrading my dvd player to a blueray player. If the blueray player is 1080p will the picture still be really good on my 720p tv. My television does except 1080i. that is the highest my television will except. I was just wondering if the picture of the blueray disc still look really good on my tv...

I'm anxiously awaiting Sony's new BDP-550 which is supposedly out this Fall with all the bells and whistles and 7.1 mutli-channel audio out connections. I want the best connections, so which way is a better hookup normally? HDMI" or Multi-Channel? Anyone hear anything about this new Blu Ray player? I've heard the 350 by Sony is pretty good too....

I have standard cable (without box) and I have no intention to upgrade my cable service. I use a Toshiba DR-560 DVD Recorder as a HDTV tuner. The HDTV chanels do show as 16:9 pictures with the right proportion and the picture quality is very good. Does this prove that what's on my screen is HDTV signal as opposed to NTSC signal it ...

Hi, Can anyone explain the significance of having a built-in digital tuner in a DVD recorder? I see some do and some don't but I don't know what it means. Thanks!

My mother has two old vcr's hooked up to her cable coming into her apartment, but no cable box. Will these vcr's work after the switch to digital? Her tv is older, not digital. Will she need to get converter boxes to record on these vcr's? Or should she just go out a buy new vcr's with the digital tuner? Please help....
