Altar Call
Published (2009-12-09 01:53:00)
Altar calls usually (in my church) are a period of time when new members publicly announce that they would like to join our church. Others come forward to announce what they decided earlier in the week as far as putting faith in Christ. Some come with requests for baptism. Some just come to pray at the altar. But if you attend a hyper calvinist church I ain\'t exactly sure what they are for. I always get confused about that sort of thing...

Joshua

I was able to go through the book of Joshua with some middle schoolers some time back. It was a great study. The biggest thing I took from the book is that we do have to make a choice to follow Him. Our walk has to have some intent behind it.

Trusting God
Published (2009-12-08 03:17:00)
Trusting God for me was one of the most difficult parts of giving my all too Him. I always want to be in control.. meaning, make my own decisions, have my own thoughts, do my things on my time.. When you trust God you basically give Him everything of you. Your trust needs to not come just from your heart but it needs too involve your mind. Anyone can say "I trust God!!" but really, what is your mind saying? God wants us so so...

Questions on Genesis

The Book of John has those answers, John 1:1-3 1In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Thw Word Be Jesus.

How Do You Console Them?

If I take you by force, strip you naked, and tie you to a telephone pole outside Walmart, you tell me if it is merely humiliating... It is sexual abuse, regardless of the age.

During my walk with Jesus, I have experienced amazing grace and patience from God, and was convinced that as long as I trusted Him, everything would turn out ok. I assume this is correct. However, lately in scripture I have really been finding emphasis on what we do as Christians, and doing works, being faithful, staying true, etc.
Take a look at these passages from Revelation 2 :...

This is a Question and Answer study of Genesis to help keep us in the Word. It is not an in depth study but more of a set of questions to motivate each of us to read. Like the thread on Luke & Acts that Cup of Milk and i were doing. We will be using an NIV to get the questions from (unless i am away on a trip as i carry only one Bible when traveling, it\'s a KJV) so if the wording is different ...

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now ...

How do you learn to trust God? Is it that you learn each day without even knowing it? I don\'t want to not trust him especially if he expects to be trusted. blossom

Hi, I've been a Christian for about a year now and I need some advice. My problem is that I keep doubting God and getting mad at him and there are times I feel like I should just stop being a Christian. For example, I've just graduated from college and I'm having trouble finding a job, plus I have some medical problems. Whenver I get bad news (like not getting a job) I just go to pieces, lash out...

Situation 1: A young man was physically abused as a child and now dislikes God and Christianity because his family was a supposedly religious one.
Situation 2: A young woman also doubts God could ever help her in life because she was molested/raped/sexually abused as a child. She told her parents what happened but they don't believe her.
How do I help these people? What do I say? What ...

How many of you were saved via an altar call?
I myself accepted Christ in my own bedroom on a Monday night of July 13, 2009.
I always feel so warm when I see people going up to the altar call and getting saved. God is so good and I rejoice with the angels whenever non-believers take that step of faith.
Do you have any altar call stories/memories? Perhaps your own, or perhaps someone ...

Hi all, this is my first post.
I've recently started going to church again, but am really wanting to buy another bible. I already own an NIV and a NKJV.
I made the mistake ? of searching bible translations on the net to decide on which bible I will get next. It's been abit of a downer actually.
This is what I want.
I want a real leather, thumb indexed study bible. One that ...

Sin is primarily a state of being rather than an act. It is a 'disconnect' or willful separation from God by an individual. It leads to disobedience and actions of sin, which are contrary to what God tells us we should do. The individual becomes alienated from God.
"Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."...

Taking a class called sociology of Mental Illness and we learn about all the different kinds of mental illnesses and even met people who had certain illnesses where they heard voices and acted in ways that are not normal. We learned how even things like schizophrenia can set in for unknown reasons in someones 20's or later. Some of these illnesses cause people do things and sometimes "sin", ...

I ain't so much a newb....
Seen all kinds of churchs.
But this one threw me for a loop.
I was driving down the Road and seen a sign for a church. Mount Zion Baptst Church.
Not a big deal...baptist churchs are common here in the SE.
What came next on the sign did.
Bishop "so and so" was the senior pastor .
Now I have heard of Catholic churchs having bishops, ...

These terms are synonymous, but which one is more appropriate? Which one do you use personally?
Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit?
Christians or saints?

When repenting for sins how do you go about doing so? What sins should i try to make amends for to people i have harmed? and what ones can be left alone? What method did you use to figure this out?
