Thanks eatrustic. I make a pretty good salt-fennel seed crusted roast shoulder myself. I may opt for another main then. I have not ever had seafood at Fuel...maybe one of those mains.

The spuds were the most interesting item we tried because of the way the texture morphs as they cool. When they arrive on your table, the curds are melted right in and stretch way out like mozzarell when you lift your fork. Then the curds gradually coalesce back into squeaktastic curdiness. Very cool to a curd lover like myself but might be off putting for someone who wasn't expecting the texture change...

Looking for suggestions here...

so i ended up buying the finn crisp crackers bought the multigrain instead of regular, great flavour and texture, just a little on the big side for my preference and bought some triscuits, i know alot of ppl are not fans , but i sure am , the 61% less sodium , really like that texture but ironically they were in need of more salt, i guess i also realized that carr's and jacob's are too neutral for my tastes

we're confused because the holy cross has been closed for years- but that's right by 4th street, tons of places to eat there!

I fought with myself over whether I should have had that last night. It's near the top of my list for next time!

Moderately priced dinner in Calgary

I have been to Koi, it is great, however I think of it more of Asian, but looking at their menu they seem to have a couple other options. Petite looks perfect though, it might be the one.

Hut Fourteen on Fairmount Drive...

drove by Hut Fourteen today and noticed it for the first time. they seem to have pizza and some thai dishes, but I think it's primarily an indian take out place. has anyone been here yet? http://hutfourteen.com/index.html

The Bothy Wine & Whisky Bar,...
Published (2009-12-10 21:26:00)
I guess I am wrong - I just found a poster for 2009 Indulgence and Bothy is listed. Pretty odd that a restaurant that was 6 months from opening could get on the ticket... And I was sure that whoever I spoke to at that table was working somewhere else at the time.

Perhaps you should narrow it down a bit by mentioning what cuisine you enjoy as well as atmosphere and what moderate means in terms of price. Lately I've been enjoying quite a few low key meals at Il Centro across from Chinook and Olives for a more trendy upscale spot which can be fairly loud room DT.

I really like lavash crackers, especially because as I make them, I can change the toppings. I bet this will get more responses in the home cooking section though, but what about crisp breads broken up (like from IKEA) or matza as a change of pace.

Shuraku literally beside the Granville 7 is a nice izakaya with one of the better sake selections among izakayas. Love Goldie's pizza. Don't think it's ever been mentioned on CH. Great list grayelf.

Coffee Tour: Artigiano, 49th, Elysian Room, JJBean, Bump n Grind, Prado, ReEntry (they use Vivace from Seattle). Most of these places use 49th (except for JJ and ReEntry) Sushi Octopus' Garden, Lime, Blue Water, and a number of others. Bars The new Red Card looks good.

Hate to state the obvious but unless you are looking to buy the sauce as a gift, making one would take a fraction of the search time for a sauce in the city. Less than ten minutes. You can even buy a squeeze bottle from your local cook shop to help get the total effect.

Finch's - I like how they take the time to pleat their meat. Sciue - nice selection of Italian style sandwichs and similar (eg Roman Pizza)

If you are looking for high end Asian knives you may wish to try Williams Sonoma at Chinook. While I don't think they carry Chinese knives, they do carry Japanese knives, some of which are typical Asian styles, like the ubiquitous Asian cleaver. They will also cost many times more than the typically cheap knives at T&T, for example.

Everybody has the "rights." The issue with Stumptown is that they don't ship wholesale cross border.
