Where's the bread pudding?
Published (2009-12-12 18:32:00)
We went there tonight and not only was the sticky toffee pudding wonderful, the chocolate molten cake was unusually tasty. I also enjoyed everything we ordered---expensive place but it follows through!

Best cupcakes in T.O.?
Published (2009-12-13 08:02:00)
Eating one right now. Pretty good. MMM... breakfast. Cake > thought the cupcake needs a better hit of chocolate IMO. Tastes too much like regular vanilla base. But that may be my preference on red velvets, since I don't think there's a globally accepted baseline on chocolate levels in red velvets. Aside from that, it's moist enough, but more dense than airy. I liked that. creamcheese icing - held its shape as it had...

Duggan's Brewery

Haha @ the cool brewery website It says in huge bold letters with techno music "Free home delivery!" which sounds great, so I went into the product thing and picked out a 24 of #9, and a couple 4-packs of their other beers I hadn't tried.. Then I go to checkout and find out for orders under $100 they charge $15 shipping per product it says.. needless to say it was too expensive so i'll just wait till i go there in...

Bun Cha in Toronto?
Published (2009-12-13 12:05:00)
Wow! That looks insanely good. Now I want to go back to Vietnam just to taste this dish. For now, I'll settle on Nha Trang (it says Pho Canh Buom outside), 1144 College St., 416-538-4287. In the Star article that Aser posted, this place was mentioned as having Bun Cha. We'll see how it stacks up to the image of Dac Kim in Hanoi.

SUN/MON THIS WEEKEND IN TORONTO
Published (2009-12-13 12:49:00)
Lee is the only restaurant on the OP's list that I would want to visit. Small plates, some of which are Asian inspired. I like the Singapore Slaw. Black Hoof is focused on Charcuterie- not my kind of thing. Sundays are tough nights in TO for better restaurants, and many of the restaurants in trendy neighbourhoods like Ossington and West Queen W (like Nyood) do not open on Sunday and Monday nights. The Drake might be a good option for you...

What is Toronto's best Sushi?
Published (2009-12-11 08:59:00)
i've been meaning to go to mikado for a while and finally made it there... while i think the texture of the rice is actually better at zen (mikado's was a bit hard but a fresher slightly warmer batch near the end was much better) the seasoning was better at mikado. the beautiful interplay between it and the japanese red snapper was lovely. the slice size also seemed more appropriate at mikado for me where it was a small two bite...

Do they all have sit down tables? Wouldn't mind trying a pizza from them, but getting it to my place by any means would be annoying.

Barley Toy Candy

I tried the Bulk Barn on Kingston Rd near Midland today, and they didn't even know what I was talking about. It may vary from one store to the next -- I always bought them at either Scarborough Town Centre or Fairview Mall Bulk Barns. I'm still on a quest, as they are my mother's favourites (next to chicken bones, which I did find at BB today).

There are two excellent Thai restaurants that likely deliver to your area. They're Mengrai Thai http://www.mengraithai.com/ and Sukho Thai http://www.sukhothaifood.com/ A word of caution if you order from Sukho. Plan on giving them lots of lead time and don't count on it when they give you an estimate as to how long it'll take. For my last order I was told 45 minutes and it took an hour and 20 min. Just a little inaccurate.

Burrito Boyz is absolutely disgusting so its good to hear there is some competition out there now. One question, is the tortilla home or locally made? I'm interested to try it out if it is.

They just opened up one of these down the street from me in Oakville so hopefully I will find a free pizza coupon in my mailbox one day.... I have heard good things about this joint. I think I tried them years ago when they first moved to Ontario but I don't really recall how it compares to other chains/individual pizza places

I can't say it enough, give Ezra Title from Chezvous Dining a call. He is simply THE BEST! His food is amazing, he'll come up with the perfect menu for budget and wow factor, and he's a great guy. What more could you ask for?

I had one the other night after it sat in my fridge for about 1.5 yrs. I was afraid to try it, since the other 5 Belgian beers from that sample pack were very disappointing. Boy was that Gulden Draak amazing stuff! I too would love to find more single bottles locally if available. BTW, those who love more full bodied/dark amber beers/ales like Maudite, Trois Pistoles, Fuller's Vintage ale (...

I enjoyed the dim sum the one time I've been there...about 2 months ago. Not the best in Toronto, but pretty solid...with good service and decor. Definitely has some connection to Dynasty on Bloor. I would not make a special trip for their dim sum, but if in that area I would think of them first....for example over Grass Mountain at Don Mill/Finch.

Can you tell us what the delivery charge was? I might be interested in getting delivery -- I hadn't realized they would deliver so far, but I guess that style of pizza holds its heat a lot better than thinner ones would.

My vote would be for Swirl! But it's east-end. However, I like the vibe a lot. It's tiny, it's cozy, and has some good snacks. Not good if you want to people-watch though. The places only seats like 12 in the front. No cocktails either, but I would highly recommend the Chamomile Grappa if she's got any left. Photos and menu: http://www.foodpr0n.com/2009/08/17/si...

I certainly hope it ends up being authentic food. Toronto is woefully ill-equipped for anyone with a craving for southern or cajun restaurants, the only mainstays being the mediocre Southern Accent and the strangely overpriced Joe Mama's. There's N'awlins, too, but I've never been, so I can't comment on either its food or prices.

Please clarify if you mean Houston Restaurant not the popular Houston's Chain in the States. I made the mistake of confusing the awful Houston restaurant at Vaughan Mills was the same as Houston's and I was in for a rude awakening. It was one of the most disappointing meal experiences of my life!
