I also believe in giving a restaurant a second chance every 20 years or so.

I'd agree with you for sure as far as fine dining, and I could list a dozen places I could run up an astronomical bill and have an amazing meal, but I'm thinking a place like Pane Rustica, or Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, somewhere that most people could afford to eat at frequently (not special occasion type places), A+ food on an B+/A- budget :)

Joe's is Joe's....period. I've been eating there for over 35 years and the crabs, spinach, hash browns and chopped salad are the stars of the show.....They keep it simple there....it works.....and their record of longevity speaks for itself......I'll keep showing up there at first call on Sunday afternoon....avoiding the lines and pomp & circumstance....always leaving a very satisfied customer....... Agree with the poster who suggested Mise en Place and Columbia...both good choices. I'd like to Bernini in Ybor....it's SOOO good. If you like wine bars, Taps Wine and Beer Merchants is fun and trendy (downtown).

I agree the flemings $6 burger is phenomenal. Don't see how they can keep offering it at that price, so take advantage while it is still there. Also forgot to mention that The Black Olive offers $3 martini's weekdays till 8pm, another great deal. They also validate parking in the garage.

And Pane Rustica is . . . where, again? For someone wanting a 'sticky' about naming the city or area of interest, you seem a little lax.

Puerto Sagua in Miami Beach is good, authentic Cuban food, without the Miami Beach prices. I don't think that they've been covered by any TV show as it's not a showy place.

Please let us know why it was just OK by your standards. I would not expect desserts from a roadside BBQ stand where it's takeout only.

The Prime Blue location is now "Solymar," supposed to open 7/30. Solea in the W Hotel South Beach recently opened. Ahnvee (creole, former Emeril chef) recently opened on South Beach. Don Chile (Mexican) opened in Coral Gables. Talavera (Mexican from owners of Jaguar) still supposed to open sometime in Coral Gables. Le Provencal recently moved from corner of LeJeune & Miracle Mile to a spot ...

I have actually been here with my husband two times. We live in the area and have been waiting for this place to open. Really good bar food and really great beer according to my husband. I drink wine. And yes, it is like some type of ski or hunting lodge. Pretty funny seeing that in Boca. I enjoyed it.

It's a big town. What part of town are you staying in? Original? Hmm, in NE FLA that usually means fried something.

One of the best deals that I currently know of, is the before 7 pm manu at the Black Olive. Three courses $20. Excellent food. Also many of the highend steakhouses are offering great value bar/lounge menus. Look on the websites for times. The Palm, Flemings, Mortons. (I heard Shula's was offering a bar menu as well) The Black Olive and The Palm are both Opentable.
