Good to hear you read the contract and you are ok. Extended warranties are a different thing than factory ones so what he told you MIGHT have been valid. I would talk to the owner and I would also show the Service Manager the section in your contract stating you can do it though. Be nice and don`t be a jerk but definitely point it out to the SM.

Yes, the older trucks, you could turn it on with a separate switch, but the GMT-900`s, you have to turn it on with the dome light. Not sure why they took that away, maybe they felt it was a safety issue.

Purchased the DIC today. Installed in 10 minutes. No BCM flash required. GM Part I listed above is correct #19159438. They only call it a "switch" in the description but it does include the entire plastic panel with the switches already installed.

The dealership is working with me about this issue but I am tired of driving nearly 40 miles one way for nothing. The service department manager told me that as long as we got it documented that it will be covered. I dont keep a truck long enough for the warranty to run out.I dont drive that much. I like my truck but these little problems annoy me. They build these trucks in Mexico to cut labor cost & no telling where the parts are being...

I agree, go to another dealer. I have had new vehicles from Nissan and VW and both only required receipts of the oil and filter. I can`t imagine that GM would be any different.

unless they changed something from when i got my truck in 03, the warrenty is not voided. i took my truck in a few times during the extended warranty period and nothing ever came up about who changes the oil. what did you take your truck to the dealer for? if its something with the internals of the engine i could see how they could pin that on you.

I am talking about the extended warranty not the factory. I did read the contract last night and it clearly states that you may maintain your own vehicle, just keep receipts to prove you purchsed oil, filter, parts, etc. The service guy was full of crap, doesn`t surprise me and I will be talking to the manager when I take my truck in this weekend to let him know his employees are giving out false info. I need to start saving my recepits tho,...

I have never had that problem with my 2009. It goes off for like 3 seconds and doesn`t do it again till I turn off my truck and turn it back on and start driving again.

try gmpartsdirect.com I didnt have the buttons either, so I bought the part for about $60 or so and did it myself in 5 minutes. there is a plug behind your existing cover, waiting for the cover with the buttons in it. If you can get a part number from the dealer, it will make using the website a whole lot easier. -Steve-o

You`re referring to the cargo light, right? Depends on the year I do believe. My 03 has a button on the left below the 4WD selector switches.

I don''t know if the new style are the same, but on the 03-07 classic models, with the radio turned off (key on) you could hold the preset 6 button on the radio and it would change your chime volume. You might give it a try and see if it helps.

Welcome to the site and congrats on the truck. I had good luck with 50-series Flowmaster on my S10 4.3. I was very happy with the sound. Steven
