This is a tough call. When I was doing cat adoptions at PetsMart, we never adopted out a cat to be gifted to someone else. We needed the primary caretaker to sign the adoption agreement. Since you've never met GF, I would wait to make up your mind about getting her a cat until you've had a chance to scope her out yourself. Christmas is a time when everyone is (or should be) on their best "company behavior", so I'd wait...

hello! back from the wars...very odd christmas for the human. at 423 this morning i woke up-and thought it was 423 pm. and went frantic, thinking mary had called and knocked and i had slept through it...i thought i had pretty much missed christmas. so...i called mary. four times. she never answered. finally, i took a better look at the little letters after the time on my computer... ...i'm just glad mary can sleep through her cell phone....

*hugs* Yeah, it took me years to realize that steeling yourself for disappointment on Christmas is a surefire way to end up in tears. This year I expected nothing from it, which meant that it went decently. We even had a Christmas dinner of sorts (gluten free to boot, long story), and given how low key my folks have always been around Christmas, that's almost an achievement in and of itself.

Why don't you offer to take the GF to the shelter, and when you have an alone minute, just explain to her that your brother would be better off with a grown, stable kitty that is not nervous and is pretty laid back! There are some very good kitties in this category that are sadly in need of homes. I would not recommend a young cat since it is more likely to change purrsonality. Look...

i might have done something had i any idea that would happen...the shelf is fairly close to the wall, it's unlikely kaya would get stuck but possible that she would get awkwardly wedged while falling and hurt herself. but, they both seem fine-and as of ten minutes ago, were slapping at each other in a mutual grooming orgy on that same shelf...

Morning all Fake Cats.....the "Fake Cat Christmas Party" is still going on in the "Party Time" Forum. Suey, Fuey, Ronnie and the kittens are there. Al Hirt is having a ball playing with them. Merry Christmas all "Fake Cats". It is cold this morning in the New Orleans area, low 40's (well that is cold down here...MOL). My furry family got some new toys and a couple of bags of Temptation Treats. My boss gave me two gift cards, one to a local grocery store and one for PetsMart, so the kitties will get another gift when I go there to pick out something they can all play with.
