Yes, it can, and it can also cause cancer!! All chemicals like that are terrible for our pets. They can seep into the skin, or they can breathe them in.

Yeah, metronidazole can be used in cases of periodontal disease, but so many other antibiotics are better suited for it. And yes, amoxi tabs can be given on an empty stomach, it's just that it causes to many cases of stomach upset, we always advise giving it with meals. Some cats are just sensitive to it though. I'm glad to hear Charlie is doing better!

Has anyone used this with cats? Is it safe? http://www.vicks.com/products/vapor-inhaler I was thinking that it doesn't actually put medicine in their noses so maybe it would be helpful, but of course I don't want to use anything that might be dangerous. Thoughts?

Thanks for the input, Leo. We're thinking no more vaccinations around here. Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving. Mom has to work, but promises that we'll get goodies when she gets home.

Published (2009-11-23 13:17:00)
Hi everyone, Lucky is still hanging....He still drags his back feet a little in walking but I do see a 5% improvement...At least he is not getting worse. The vet said his diarrhea should go away soon. Its been about 8 days now and he does not get it off his back end. He drags his back in on the carpet and its nasty. I just don't want my dog sniffing it or getting close so i'm having to check things often. Its been alot of work but...

Pet Insurance?

My vet also recommends a separate account for us rather than insurance. Mom has done this and puts aside the amount that it would cost to insure us and than for any birthday/Christmas/ or just because money she will set aside at least 10%. IMHO the more you have in your "emergency pet fund" the better off you will be. We never know what may happen in the future and we are all pretty much one or two checks away from being on the...

I know, it's a tricky situation. Where we live (Arizona), there is no rabies vaccination law for cats. If there was, both my sister Lucy and I would get medical waivers from our vet. Lucy has severe allergies and she had a life-threatening reaction to vaccinations as a kitten. Mom and the vet talk about it every year and the vet is adament about not vaccinating Lucy- she feels that it is more likely that Lucy would die from the rabies...

I do not believe it would do much for him. When a Friend of mine had a stallion , we used to put it on his nose when we went riding. That is a question you should call your vet about. Like I had said in your last post. Call and ask what else you can use for his congestion. Good Luck

Fiddlehead has now moved into the same closet where Whatnot was while she was sick, and he's so lethargic, just like she was, and I'm so sad that no one here has been able to write "no problem, he's going to make it." My first thought is - how often do you feed the kitty? Hungry cats tend to gulp and swallow a lot of air which can generate a, er, windmill. ???

Glad your tests came back negative! What you might do in lieu of pet insurance is what my vet recommended for mom. Figure out about how much you would pay for an insurance plan each month and put that money in a separate place for you. Mom has a separate place for us and it has been working well so far . Even as a poor college student we now have more money than her! MOL What she does is ...

If you are very worried, I would say eliminate the dry food entirely. Also, make sure he drinks water aside for the juice in his wet. If he's not a big drinker, I suggest a water fountain. The novelty might get him to drink more. If he pees three times a day, that's not bad, but if the pee pats are still very small, I'd say he's still having trouble with his peeing. If you feel that all ...

See here for tips on how to safely lose weight: http://catinfo.org/feline_obesity.htm Dry foods are too high in calories and carbs and some have junky ingredients. Don't bother with so-called weight management foods. They're still high in calories and the carb content may push you into developing diabetes. Canned food or RAW will help as well as daily excercise. Just like for people: ...

yes I you should wash anything down if you suspect it might have any kind of chemical on it. See that she is eating a good quality food, nothing from a grocery store. Only food from a pet or feed store. Since you have moved, there could be some unseen stress going on here. Cats do not show stress like you and I do. It would be a sign of weakness. Is Dini just outside or does she go ...

I don't know how cat ins works, but with horses, the vet does an exam first, and it wouldn't cover a pre-existing condition. How much do you trust your vet? You could always get a second opinion. Its kinda hard to explain, but its more than the heart is beating faster, it has a different kind of sound, and that is due to the left ventrical, not opening and shuting properly, so it lets ...

Your vet told you to expect this but didn't discuss what to do if it happened?? Did your vet at least give you an emergency number to call?? I see that there is at least one emergency clinic in your area, I would give them a call, if your regular vet is unavailable. http://local.yahoo.com/info-25365946-countryside-v eterinary-clinic-fairbury

You need to get to the vet. This could be a sign of something serious. Black, tarry poop is a sign of digested blood. So unless you're feeding bloody meats like heart, this means that there is bleeding somewhere high in the digestive system.
