greenlee, do you have any other cats in the house? its very possible they wont let her use the litter. cats can gaurd the litter and harass a young or newer cat to the point they wont use the litter all the time, they will go whereever because they are afraid to use the box because of another cat, or even, dogs might harass a cat in the litter box. You wont nesscarly see the other cats bugging her. it can be just as suttle as a look, or even...

Greenlee, I think you mentioned this problem before, so I have to ask: has she been to the vet? Has the vet ruled out incontrovertibly that she doesn't have crystals or a UTI? Because if she hasn't been checked for that, and she does have a urinary infection, you can use all the carpet cleaners in the world, and spray all the feliway in the world, and she will not stop peeing outside the box (unless she gets so ill that she stops...

Bunny business
Published (2009-11-23 19:10:00)
I used to have a bunny and the bunny was actually the one pouncing on the cats and chasing them.. it was quite funny. In my experience bunnies and cats get along great. I would slowly introduce them when the bunny is young before he/she gets the idea that it may be the dominant one. Let the kitties look at the bunny through the cage before letting them run around together. I would just supervise when they are together for a while until they...

Toilet Training!
Published (2009-11-18 19:30:00)
I just ordered my Litter Kwitter and am planning on training Sylar and Eleanor to use the toilet! Hopefully we have success, my wallet needs it! I'm allergic to clay litter so have to buy pricey wheat litter I've been wanting to do this for awhile now and after reading a blog about potty training cats, knew I had to give it a shot!

My cat loses her mind for food
Published (2009-11-23 15:24:00)
I used to do this...I was named appropriately, now mommy has a chair that I hang out on when she's in the kitchen, she started giving me kitty treats on it when I was screaming at her to feed me what she was cooking, that has helped a lot as well as feeding me when it's their dinner time. I am only fed twice a day (well just started yesterday) as my sister and I were becoming too fat, so had to go on a kitty diet, but mom before that...

How many toys do you have?
Published (2009-11-24 17:39:00)
Only a half dozen toys right now, but that's okay because she'll play with anything that's not nailed down. So in reality, I guess, the whole house is full of her toys!

Stray Cat keeps savaging our Mum
Published (2009-11-26 22:10:00)
Neutering does wonders for this behavior. I have wrangled a few ferals in my day using work gloves and it worked but you have to be lightening fast and have everything prepared. I would wrap him in a towel if it comes to that. Rescue Remedy could get him to chill out some and maybe even enough to get him into a carrier. He does deserve a chance and bless you for caring but do be careful.

He deserves a chance for sure!
But your mum needs to as much as possible give him space, like, not try to move him directly, but distract him or throw treats or toys to lure him away. And do some clicker training! Click and treat him for coming near her, for being calm, for doing anything remotely friendly.
But as far as getting him to the vet for his, ahem, little operation, that might be ...

First I would make sure that she does not have a urinary infection. A trip to the vet should always be first when it comes to elimination problems. Sometimes kitty hurts and is trying to tell us. Sometimes the softer fabric feels better than the litter.
If health issues are ruled out then:
-Have you tried Feliway spray? It can help neutralize territorial marking.
-Nature's Miracle has not ...

What's the problem, exactly?
She's sleeping where she's comfortable, which for cats is often different from what humans find comfortable. Aquavit's dad used to sleep partly on a windowsill, and partly on the typewriter that was in front of that window. It didn't look comfortable, but he loved that spot. Aquavit and Retsina will cram themselves together on one shelf of the cat tree, sometimes...

I have so many toys. Some are hidden in my secret hiding spot that those humans haven't found yet (those humans are so dumb!), some are lost, scattered around the house or in a basket/food/water bowl somewhere.
Or under the fridge, dressers etc.

Definitely could be at least being encouraged by your husband, hands and arms should never be put in the position where they could be seen as toys or annoyances to be batted/bitten.
What I've been doing with my kitten when she nips my hand, is using a can of compressed air. I don't shoot it at her, but she hates the sound of it (I think it maybe resembles a hiss to her). She immediately stops...

Is the bunny in one of those metal cages where he can see all around and everyone can see in? We had a guinea pig in one of those cages and we got him when we already had our 3 girl cats for years. One of the cats totally ignored him, one was interested and sniffed, but never poked, and one was totally terrified of the pig.
Go forward a couple of years and with the passing of our last girl ...

cats arnt like dogs, you cant really teach them to sit for food, or say "no"
It sounds like a learned behaviour from kittenhood that turned into a bad habbit. being that she is older and set in her ways, she may not change but may be able to learn that its ok to calm down.
I would feed her first and feed her in your bedroom with no other animals and just ignor her. put her away first, ...

I know it's not funny, but I can't help laughing a little because I've had a few cats who acted the same way. It didn't matter if there were other animals in the house or not, they were just "that way". It seemed to be their temperament since they were tiny kittens, and no amount of love and attempts to calm them down made them any less destructive. LOL. One of them would rub on people and enjoy ...
