Chesterton also noted that progress is not progress unless it can be measured against some standard. But when the standards are constantly changed, then progress is not progress at all.

It’s political season in the U.S. and the words “conservative” and "liberal" get thrown around a lot. So my question is… What is a conservative? What does it mean in a political context? What does it mean in a general context? What does it mean in a religious (church) context? Who has the right to define the term? If you are just presenting your opinion, that’s cool. But if you aspire to ...

Obama is supposed to be a follower of the Saul Alinsky school of "community organizing" or whatchamacallit. Apparently H. Clinton did her undergrad thesis on a related topic. According to the little reading about it that I've done, the strategy of this school is the same as "boiling live frogs". You start out with cool water and heat it very slowly so they never become aware enough of the pain...

See The Tidings December 12, 2008 [Diocesan paper of the Los Angeles Arch Diocese] From TOM EHRICH's weekly column re a breakaway Episcopal diocese. [ Note that Ton Ehrich is a writer, church consultant and Episcopal priest based in New York.] Quote: If a church wanted to walk the walk of Jesus as Savior, it wouldn't be debating sexuality. It would be helping people to deal with economic...

I must confess that I am so discouraged right now. It looks like Obama won by a landslide and so many are looking to him as if he is our saviour. He is commited to promoting abortion and possibly destroying the sanctity of the family...what do we do now? It feels like the majority of US citizens are firmly behind Obama and in awe of him. Can we possibly avoid a more radical prodeath culture now? ...
