Thinks that make you go "Hmmm..." Eddy, you've been a member here since November. You've made a total of 4 posts - and half of them have been about Obama's birthplace.

Ian, this man of Peace has won my heart and I pray for him a lot as he is exactly what he said he was when he was inaugurated. He is "A humble Servant in Gods' Vineyard" May God bless him and help him through these troubled times as he obediently serves God in all his strength. Love Maria

I am deeply saddened for the dead also, I understand that 540 Palestinians and 5 Jews have now been killed. Such a tragic waste of life. The web news report I looked at was most probably biased towards the Arab point of view - hence the Pope being quoted out of context. Did anyone march in Singapore Ian? In London there was a really big turn out which sadly ended in violence between police force and the crown. I understand the Pope is no...

I read the following on a Press TV web site(Dec29): " Pope Benedict XVI condemns the ongoing Israeli attacks against Palestinians in Gaza, calling for end to the tragic situation in the region." It went onto quote this statement from the Pope. "I implore an end to the violence which must be denounced in all its forms and a restoration of the truce on the Gaza Strip," he said. I'm interested in ...

Very good "Weekly Standard" article on Avery Cardinal Dulles's defense of the traditional Catholic position on the death penalty. Moderator, please move to another forum if this isn't the appropriate one. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Artic les/000/000/015/971uglkk.asp Seminole Jim

David, Here in NSW blasphemy can be an offence. We are considering repealing it. http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/lrc.nsf/pages/R74CHP 2 Quote: Section 574 of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) provides that: No person shall be liable to prosecution in respect of any publication by him orally, or otherwise, of words or matter charged as blasphemous, where the same is by way of argument, or ...

JMJ The article Joe signalled alerts American readers to a petition you can sign to help stop this flow of blood-dripping money the abortion industry is funnelling into the pockets of "Catholic" politicians to have them cooperating in keeping abortion legal and anesthetizing the people's consciences. Many thanks to Lisa Correnti (wonderful southern Irish name.. ) for her efforts and her ...

JMJ These are the fringe groups that have worked systematically to misrepresent and contradict what the Church teaches and tens of Bishops have repeated on the duties of Catholic voters and public servants. Those who think that the lichens of Greenland - supposing they're in danger - and they're own obsessions on disputable matters consititute a "proportionate reason" to vote for pro-abortion ...

Citing what they call America’s “promise of equality,” the Obama administration plans to push for homosexual rights by including protections of sexual orientation, “gender identity” and “gender expression” as civil rights. His office proposes expanding hate crimes statues and the adoption rights of homosexuals while supporting full civil unions for “LGBT couples” to give them “legal rights and ...

......what this year's election cycle clarified decisively is that the great public fissure in these United States is between the culture of life and the culture of death. In 1995, when Pope John Paul II introduced the phrase "culture of death" in the encyclical Evangelium Vitae ("The Gospel of Life"), more than a few commentators coughed politely and tried to suggest, if gently, that this ...

One essential point that distinguishes the Catholic Church's notion of social justice from its secular counterpart has to do with the concept of personal virtue. The Church's great social encyclicals, from Leo XIII's Rerum Novarum to John Paul II's Centesimus Annus, emphasize again and again that there can be no separation of social justice from personal virtue, as there can be no divorce ...
