Published (2009-11-29 05:09:00)
Quote: MADRID, November 27, 2009 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) -- Today the Plenary Assembly of the Spanish Episcopal Conference issued a statement saying that politicians who vote for a proposed law liberalizing abortion in Spain place themselves in an "objective state of sin and, while the situation lasts, may not be admitted to Holy Communion." The announcement from the Spanish bishops comes as the Spanish parliament is...

It is my belief that it is a grave offense to Jesus when someone receives Him without first repenting of and confessing their pro-abortion ways. Dear Holly, Thanks for posting this encouraging news! Following are excerpts from the MANHATTAN DECLARATION, which has been signed by hundreds of Christian faith leaders in the US, including such outstanding Catholic bishops as Chaput (Denver), Dolan (NY), Kurtz (Louisville), Maida (Emeritus, Detroit), Malone (Portland ME), Myers (Newark), Nienstedt (Minn-St. Paul), Olmsted (Phoenix), Rigali (Philadelphia), Sheridan (Colo. If the trumpet gives an uncertain sound then how will the people be rallied? Here, thanks be to God, the trumpet is sounding a clear note. The Church has a clear teaching. Those who choose to go against it are, of course, welcome to their freedom of conscience; but the Church also has to exercise its freedom of conscience - which is to deny the Eucharistic Feast to those who defy its teaching. I wish the English and Welsh Bishops would follow...

Lots of senators are simply being bought off (the deal for Louisiana was called the "Louisiana Purchase".) My admiration for the Catholic Church is increasing in this debate because it simply will not be bought off. Cherished

I hope that more of their American brethren would see their actions and follow suit. Until they are united - and maybe not even then - these pro-murder Catholics will not get the message.

I could contact our senators, but for us here in Illinois that is probably an exercise in utter futility. Durbin, a pseudo-Catholic if ever there was one, is interested only in playing to his liberal Democratic base, holding his wet finger to the hot air coming from them and blowing to the next election. Burris has a reputation for caring for no more than adding the title "Senator" to his already constructed mausoleum, by...

A large chunk of parents in Catholic schools take contraception. Does anyone's parishes send the families of the school and the members of the parish any of these letters? I read some good stuff coming out, but what is happening to ensure those who need to hear it and read it have been given that opportunity? My mum wants me to send her stuff because she has no other way to get some information that comes out. I betcha 90% of the parents...

I'm in Illinois too Kent, and have had the same hopeless thought. I'm still contacting though. I believe that there are more of us who are of the mindset in favor of life than not.The problem may be too many of us giving into the feeling there is no point. There is a point. Up to now, I have contacted using the organized cookie cutter petitions, which are good but I'm thinking that taking the time to write an individualized...

I agree. I heard this story, and the first thought that went through my mind was, "And Obama thinks WE are the terrorists?" I will also add a prayer for the conversion of this woman's soul. I can't imagine what it must be like to live with so much hatred that you would attack a total stranger unprovoked.

So do I. I forwarded emails with the link to several people. Personally, I think that the Catholic Church isn't vocal enough. In this case, it turns out Patrick Kennedy disclosed a confidential correspondence between the bishop and himself that occurred almost three years ago. I've looked on discussion boards, like the one for the Providence, RI paper, and it seems like most people think the ...

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Yes, our Bishops need all of us to support their Marriage Initiative! The Pope exhorted Bishops to lead, but now we must follow.
