Quote: We must remember to distinguish “venial sin” from “mortal sin.” Certainly “venial sin” does not separate us from God. Deliberate “mortal sin” does separate us from God. Mortal sin is like taking an axe and completely cutting off our life line. Venial sin is like squeezing a little our life line. Divine Life continues to flow to us .. but in somewhat lesser fullness. Some years ago, a priest told me that I was...

Well, I think Steph summed up what I was thinking pretty well: Quote: Forgiveness is very important to your own well-being, but no less important to your well-being is preventing abuse of yourself to continue, dpctd. Put in a question form...abuse is one of the ultimate signs of disrespect for somebody that I know. How can you expect someone to respect you, if you don't respect yourself enough to stop their abuse, and prevent them from...

Hello KellyD, If it is evil I would pray, sprinkle Holy Water in the apartment including the windows (making the sign of the cross) and the doors on the last door command any evil spirit to leave in the name of Jesus. Don't be afraid be in command and put all your trust in Jesus. The chaplet to Saint Michael is a good prayer for this situation. Do this and that's it. Don't dwell on it. If nothing happens tonight then it's...

Jen, I've been in a similar position, so I feel for you. My advice is to keep asking in prayer, especially before the Blessed Sacrament. Meanwhile, gather your information, analyze your situation, discuss it with people whose opinion and judgement you value, evaluate it all, and make the best decision you can. I find that God's guidance is sometimes in the "intuition" we have...the feeling of "this feels...

Can a Christian be Too Nice?

Sometimes silence is golden and is the best form. For example, my mum sometimes likes to come out with a nasty comment in order to get a reaction from me, hoping I bite and we fight, but I realised her tactics many years later, and find the best thing to do when she is like this is to ignore her, that way I find I don't then get influenced to retaliate in an unChristian manner and defile my tongue. But with some people I do have to stand...

In my opinion emotional intelligence is what you seem to be referring to. People have intelligence in many areas and some are particularly sensitive in picking up on others emotional states. I often can sense what others around me are feeling as well, but I don't think it's of supernatural origin. It's amazing what we can pick up from just watching people's body signals and facial expressions. I really think that everyone...

I was awakened this morning by the horrible feeling that all the warmth in my body was being quickly sucked out through my chest. My bedroom felt icy cold and the only other word I can think of is evil. I was completely freaked out. I grabbed my Rosary and the little vial of holy water I keep by my bed. I blessed myself with the water, got up and went over to my roommate and blessed her ...

I've been through a great deal of abuse in my life. Even my Catholic (the ones who introduced me to Catholicism) in-laws were abusive to me when I lived with them a short while. I was forced to escape my in-laws though, because I know I would have died if I stayed. Can a Christian be too nice? For example, even when my in-laws were starving me I still smiled and acted as if everything was okay, ...

Hi there, I have some really important decisions that I need to make about school ahead of me. I have been constantly praying for God to guide me where He needs me to be, but I haven't "heard" a word from Him, no aid, encouragement, nothing. I feel like He has abandoned me and doesn't care what I do. I only want to fulfill His Will, but there's so much I need to figure out and I feel like He...

I would like to give thanks to God for all the mods here at CCF that keep it the oasis that it is. First point: If any one of us is struggling we can count on immediate prayer support, because even if a post is not replied to right away, we know that people have seen it and are praying for the intention. If our time is limited it is better to pray for an intention, than to post that we are...

What is true love? True love is selfless, unconditional and sacrificial. True love, therefore, does not make a distinction between friend or foe; will put other’s interest and life ahead of one’s own; will forgive without any limit; will not take revenge; is humble, patient and kind; will never seeks reward for acts of love and see the opportunity to serve others itself a reward; will love ...

"According to the Vital Statistics Report for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for 2003, there were 2090 children born in-wedlock compared to 2835 born out of wedlock. For the year 1968, there were 2932 children born in-wedlock compared to 1160 born out-of-wedlock. I have pretty bad problem with socializing, dealing with emotions. I get really stressed out by it. So I have tendency to avoid people... though I will socialize if I want something.. usually.
