What puts Christmas in your Heart?

Jesper, you brought up something that I completely overlooked, but is essential for me (and not only at Christmas time but all the time day in and day out): I need silence to connect with God and put Christmas in my heart. There is so much "Christmas activity" to do every day for the purpose of giving the gift of Christmas to others. By that I mean not just the secular things like shopping and cookie baking, but the...

What puts Christmas in your Heart?

Dear St. Andrew, My heart goes out to you and to many others who have suffered loss around the time of Christmas. Wounds can begin to ache all over again when the season begins. Whenever our hearts begin to hurt, we can, however, always have recourse to two hearts who will always be there for us: The Hearts of Jesus and Mary. They have known both suffering and joy and can understand our human natures so well. May the Holy Family enfold you and...

Heehee ~ I was just kidding about the cookies... Really all the hustle and bustle, the noise, the shopping, and so forth - really detract from Christmas for me. Until I became a Catholic, my only reason for celebrating Christmas was for my Children. But since my conversion, it's really a deep and quiet anticipation of spiritual joy - and pondering what it might be like for Mary to have carried the Christ Child within and given birth to...

Has someone left you? as I have been trying to work out some of your posts on marriage. Have you heard of anulments? I am going through one right now. To me it does matter how bad someone's spouse is, because there are plenty of women who have been beaten to a pulp by their husband. At no stage does the Church decree that a women in such a situation should remain with her husband....

Dear Happy Catholic, Thanks for sharing the Advent Poem. One of my favorite poems for Advent is a very short one by St. John of the Cross: Quote: The Wayfaring Virgin The Wayfaring Virgin Word in her womb comes walking your way-- Haven't you room? When Bethlehem's coldness bids her depart O say to the Virgin Come to my heart with your...
