Interesting to find that 2 Catholic priest's, one a jesuit, are the fathers of modern hypnotism. "The Church has not waited for the verdict of science to put the faithful on their guard against the dangers of magnetism and hypnotism, and to defend the rights of human conscience; but, ever prudent, she has condemned only abuses, leaving the way free for scientific research. "The use of magnetism, that is to say, the mere...

I personally would stay away from hypnosis.. it can be dangerous opening your mind to influence unless you know it's from God. Regarding spiritual experiences, maybe you could get a good spiritual director? a potential danger is that having allowed such access to your mind once, it would make you more open to the enemy as well. But I dont know... I think if past spiritual ...

Any good friendship is built on trust, respect, and time. We have to trust Mary to intercede for us, respect her virtue and dignity, and spend time with her in the rosary every day. Anything more intimate or profound than that is entirely up to her.

More modern crucifixes today involve Irish knotwork designs on them, which signify different meanings such as unending love, etc. The idea is that there is no beginning or end to these knots. Another one that you have probably come across is the Trinity knot, which obviously signifies the Father, Son and Holy Spirit intertwined as one God. Some of the other crucifixes that are often more ...

Thanks for your post. My question is it seems to me that any sin disrupts our standing before God. The danger seems to me to be thinking of our sin as minor/major. While I understand that by their very nature some sin is much more serious than others, if you get down to it all sin is done out of self centered focus. In effect we think that we know better than God and we should be in charge of our...

Well, are we supposed to "love" all our fellow human beings, whether or not we particularly 'like' them? I think we are, right? So if you love the saints (but don't particularly like some, and recognize that the dislike might actually not be so much related to the saint's particular character but perhaps to some aspect of your own character which might cause a lot of the difficulty), ...

“A servant of the Lord is not to engage in quarrels, but has to be kind to everyone, a good teacher, and patient. He has to be gentle when he corrects people who dispute what he says, never forgetting that God may give them a change of mind so that they recognise the truth.” [2Timothy 2:24-26] We pray for genuine charity in the Church and in Catholic Answers Forums....

[quote=Faith8472;3243607I just wonder what the Bible might think of this subject.[/QUOTE] The Bible might think you are required to obey the laws of the Government you live under. Being truly Catholic takes work. It's not a "feel good" religion which unfortunately is what many want. Many claim to love the Church but find the its tenets difficult to truly live out each day. They find fault instead of understanding that there is much we will never fully comprehend until we reach eternity. Many fall into the arms of the "feel good"churches that profess to know the Bible, ...
