As an obedient (within my weak human limits) Catholic I utterly disagree with you. Tradition, Scripture, Magisterium. That's the end of it for me. Else, each person is his own church, and lacking the background, wisdom and knowledge to interpret Scripture, inevitably strays from the truth.

Its been debated whether Junias is male or female, regardless I am surprised that is still in the wiki article since they do not allow original research, which clearly that is. It is also debated the meaning of the sentence, some interpreted it as meaning Junia was honored by the apostles, others read it to mean Junia was an Apostle. St John Chrysostom said Junia was female and an apostle, since apostle is used different ways in the New...

Mark 3... Did Mary doubt Jesus?
Published (2009-12-12 13:20:00)
Thanks! I was confused because the Catachism says : "493 The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God "the All-Holy" (Panagia), and celebrate her as "free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature".138 By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long. " I assumed this meant that we (Roman)...

Mark 3... Did Mary doubt Jesus?

Scriptures give us the pattern of her thought when confronted with any confusion or perplexity. Scripture says that Mary was one to "ponder things in her heart". Because of this I always imagine our Blessed Mother as one who was very thoughtful and one who was not hasty to come to conclusions. I think this gives us circumstantial evidence that Mary would not be one hasty to come to the conclusion that her son was mad....

That is an error in the article, the Greek has ιουνιαν, Masculine Singular Accusative Proper from Lexical Form of ιουνιας. There is a variant reading but still the same gender, some manuscripts read Ιουλιαν (Julias), such as p46 and some old Latin, Coptic, and Etheopian.

I asked because I saw on the Internet that "within" is the wrong translation. Within and among are two different things in our language. So, perhaps it's proper to say something like, "God is within you, His creation and also among His people, the Church?"

" I, the LORD, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go." -- Hmm.. that's exactly the line that stuck me in the first reading. Also, "vindication" like you noted, because it appears again in the gospel. It seems like the people in the gospel learned well today's psalm, and so they don't understand why Jesus should be in the...

First, the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is that Mary, by a special grace from God, was conceived without stain of original sin, and that by a special grace from God remained sinless her entire life. I'm not sure what the Eastern Church claims about her, but if she sinned during her life, what was the point of making her free from original sin? Second, I do not believe that...
