Thanks for posting this. I've forwarded it to friends and family. I don't believe mature Christians are at a great risk for getting sucked in, but she will lure a lot of those who are barely hanging on.

Personally, I love Fr. Corapi's direct manner. I can see why it's not unanimously popular in this age of "sensitivity." We (speaking of our culture as a whole) no longer seem to want people to speak plainly. We have euphemisms for everything. We believe "the way you say it" is every bit as important as "what you say" ... and sometimes even more important. We want to have our hands held ...

I've already had enough hot air from the primaries. I don't need to hear any more speeches, so I'll be finding something else to do when the conventions are on.

Madonna is just playing to her audience: if she thought it would hurt sales, she wouldn't do it. But the D.C.'s are theoretically country, so their audience is more conservative, and the remarks were made in England, so it seemed extra offensive-- going abroad then slinging mud at the folks back home. All that made it more newsworthy. Made the media happy because they could say 'Even ...

Bond, James Bond Play it, Sam, Play it As Time Goes By. Round up the usual suspects. I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse. I have a feelling we're not in Kansas anymore. I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies. Badges? We ain't got no badges! We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinking badges!" When legend becomes fact, print the...

I like some of your choices. Shows like Family Guy aren't intended to portray the real world, but in the person of Peter's bigoted Catholic father, instead of taking offense I think we ought to learn something: this is how much of the country sees Catholics, and not without reason. We can't win hearts and souls with angry, finger wagging judgementalism. I like a lot of anime, thought '...

Let's see: Bambi--murder. Cinderella--Cat named Lucifer. Step-parents portrayed as evil. Ugly = bad, beautiful = good. Lion King--murder. Beauty and the Beast/Tarzan/Little Mermaid (to name a few)-- Lust, murder, revenge. Snow White--jealousy, attempted murder, "blatantly offensive stereotyping of minorities" (I can't find the article, but this was said about the dwarfs.)...

bump What about the message of the movie itself? If the movie has an ultimate positive message, does that make it allowable? I'm not talking about the common zombie/horror movies and stuff like that because all they do is promote gory violence (so that part makes sense), however, what is the balance between violence/profanity/nudity sometimes if a movie actually has a legitimate plot...

What is there to watch on television? I don't have cable so that's out the window. I never view it in the daytime. About the only program I watch is reruns of "Traces" on early Sunday eve. I used to like "Cold Case' but tired of that. I tried to get into "NCIS" but found the Mark Harmon character obnoxious and arrogant. That doctor on "House" is over the top with his eccentricity. TV is ...

Dr. Greene, from ER. To me he is everything a doctor should be, and totally adorkable! Tied in second place would be Dr. "Rocket" Romano from ER and Dr. House from House, because they are both a blast to watch on camera. And also because despite gruff exteriors, they both do have good hearts that they use in their proffessions.
