Is Poker a sport ?

It always reminds me of when the BBC show at the start of the year the sports that they are going to cover that year. If it's an even number year you are going to have either the Olympics and the European Cup or the Winter Olympics and the World cup. If it's an odd year they should advertise "A year of passtimes!" Poker is ideal for shows like World of Sport with Dickie Davis, what a show, I still miss the World Lumberjack...

well we have it in at ours and it does bugger all business, it seems to be only in certain areas that it seems to be a big winner, scotland and southend. tho it does give a dealer some perverse pleasure showing a punter, that the missed out on a 16k payout. opps. seen it happen several time so far. i think its also a nightmare to deal on similar to the blackjack switch game needs to...

I do but then I run an internet casino! Rules and regulations differ greatly but for us the rules are that where an RNG result mimics a real life event (i.e. a die thrown) the RNG must perform in the same manner. (i.e. it can only produce a sequence of 1 to 6 to represent a die) obviously this is done 3 times independantly to give a sic bo result. I think public perception in a land ...

I would hazard a guess and say we have not heard the last of this, I should imagine there are some very nervous bodies in the Gaming Board shuffling papers around to make sure their signature is not to be found.... Or is this just a ploy to send the message to punters that you should play the slots!

All, IMO the correct answer is not in the poll. It's a game of skill with some variance. The difference between my answer and "A game of skill involving some chance", is huge. Sure, the so-called "long run" only exists in theory, but in a EV+ game you can pretty much kill variance by running something over and over again. Just like chess, poker is a easy game to learn and understand ...

Free game in asia also means letting the dealer deal a hand wihout bets. allowing the player to see the result without risking money. Player does not need to place a bet on both sides player/banker. Does offering unlimited free games to player gives disadvantage to the house? normally done on a high limit table like $200 table min and up.
