I still don't agree about text type emails. I think writing an email in a text style for a job application says all you need to know about an applicant. I have read that it is becoming a common problem with universities saying they receive applications for degree courses, including English language courses in a text style format. Still, as saintpeter says its a novel approach. I would be very surprised if, given the age group of the...

If the technology costs are not cost effective then surely we wouldn't be running it? And not sure what you mean by corporate expense although I would suggest that HR and marketing departments appear to have grown exponentially without appearing to show the required R.O.C.E - or certainly not in my experience - is that the sort of thing you meant? With respect to the Chinese, I am not sure that the Chinese handle / attendance has declined...

I'm all in favour of casinos asking for written applications for croupiers, inspectors and other front line staff. Part of the job description is being able to communicate effectively with customers and fellow staff members. Having a written letter along with printed CV is an effective pre-screening of applicants and because of the additional time required by the individual applying it show's that they're serious about their...

To the outsider- without knowing anything i'll take a blind punt- a position was actually needing to be filled and your interview served the requisite "application was contested", should PC standards be questioned. just a guess, mind.

Late Bet, you must have taken lessons from LCI / Harrahs on how to run a London casino into the ground with that description. They are so good at it now they only have a few left.

So whats the answer..? We have all witnessed the changes, we can all do better, so what would we do differently?? I for one would invest more in PR. Also bring any shy management up to speed in entertaining and holding a conversation. If anyone wants peace and quiet these days, they can stay at home for that.

I personally prefer the "old fashioned" approach to applications.
I think it is very "easy" to apply on-line for things. It is easy to just click a button even for things you don't reallly want. If you have to do it the "old fashioned" way it shows there is some commitment and desire.
I also believe it tells a better story about the person applying, gives off a better picture of who ...

This is a voluntary process so only people looking to leave and are willing to leave will benefit.
Obviously people are worried about the prospect of it going further but if there is enough take up on the voluntary process then there may only be winners out of this ?

Hi BJ,
i feel a large part is due to the fact that not so many people have untraceable wads of cash in their pockets. These days transactions have to be noted and reported- and no big punter wants that.
The treasury hoovering up half the win doesn't help either.

There are benefits to using agencies. No 1 is that all applicants are pre-screened.
What this pre-screening entails varies considerably IMO. It would certainly help if the agency concerned table tested the dealers themselves.
I'm biased of course but my attitude to recruiting front line staff in the casino industry is that companies need to garner as many CV's as possible by placing ...
