Does your belly swell bigger...
Published (2009-11-24 10:16:00)
The blotting can be from a couple of things- how many of you drink through straws? Sucking through straws brings in air as well as liquid. Also, transit time in the colon (the amount of time it takes for the food and waste to travel through the colon) is slower in individuals with sci. So what you eat today, may take longer to work it's way out. Urine output increases when you are flat in bed. Your kidneys work better in that position -...

Preventing Yeast Infections: Thumbs Down to Douching Some women believe that douching helps clean the vagina and can treat or prevent yeast infections , bacterial vaginosis, or other types of vaginal infections , but these are misconceptions, says Orli Etingin, MD, professor of clinical medicine and director of the Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. “Douching may...

Bed sore
Published (2009-11-24 04:02:00)
On the Clinitron bed because of the way it works, there is no pressure on the sore that you're on. It will distribute pressure perfectly throughout everything on your body. It's not necessary to turn every two hours in one of those but I used to make sure I get turned at least every six hours so fluid wouldn't build up in my lungs and I would stay away from pneumonia. That's the main problem with laying flat for too long,...

Thanks quad79 and partygirl. Last night was rough. Very high blood sugar (from all the steroids) and heart rate plunges, etc., but the doc is thinking of sending me home tomorrow if I can start urinating on my own again. They are taking the catheter out today to figure that out. It worries me that the cause(s) of all this drama is all so vague, but I've given up on getting any firm answer before I leave. I can't tell you how...

C2 fracture - need information
Published (2009-11-25 17:47:00)
If she is getting treated at a Level 1 Trauma hospital, I would not be overly concerned that something huge was missed. MRI and CT usually a used in response to other symptoms. Clearly her vitals are fine, since she's going home. A "broken vertebrae" can mean a fracture of the process, the bones that stick out from the vertebrae. That kind injury is mild, with no nervous system impact. She is very lucky.

Yeast infection - Page 2 -...
Published (2009-11-21 13:54:00)
A few of the ways I know I have a UTI is when my bladder spasms have increased dramatically, when my urin is almost orange color, and has a strong odor to it. sometimes my bladder can't hold anything so I have to cath more frequently. Hmm I have never gotten chills after being on cipro. I am actually on it right now. I do however get nausea feeling even when I eat before taking it.

Yes, it should. Did it help this in the ITB trial or have you had it yet?tThey will start with a low dose and increase slowly to get the right amount.

I wear hunting socks. Only my left foot swells up though. Also if you get in bed during the middle of the day for couple hours , that helps alot.

why not? i've sat in doc's office w/foley draining in cup. however, they do prefer a sample from sterile cath change, that's not always possible.

I'm not a nurse, but I did have H1N1 a couple weeks ago [according to my doctor].
The symptoms came on very quickly, and sound quite similar to yours. The main difference was that my temperature went over 104 from time to time for about 36 hours. My doctor gave me Tamiflu which helped a lot. After staying in bed for about five days, I felt almost completely normal.
I would agree that ...

quadmarie: It sounds like we both have the same problem. My doctor has always told me to wait till after I'm done the antibiotics to take the Diflucan because the yeast infection is not going to clear up if you take it along with the antibiotic. This drives me nuts because it sends my muscle spasms over the edge every time! Lately I've been getting a lot of UTI's so it's been a never ending ...

My doc has scheduled me for botox injections on 11/17 and I want to be fully informed on what I need to ask him. From searching old threads it appears I need to make sure he's going to use at least 200 units and apply it to about 30 sites?
For some reason they dont call the insurance until after pre-op which sounds too late in case I need to file an appeal , something I haven't ...

Is her injury complete? Any function or sensation below C5?
Many here do not turn that frequently.
My body wakes me up once a night and I shift my position. Would she be able to do this? Physically, I mean. I am C7.
