The Rav-4 has a super tight back seat, annoying for rear facing

I'd recommend posting a suggestion for 3-across in this section http://car-seat.org/forumdisplay.php?f=2 as you will get more traffic there. It is possible you might be able to put your booster child in a harness in the middle for now, and still keep the twins separate.

With that many kids, we are PG with our 4th so I am with you, I would suggest a larger SUV, such as a Suburban, or Yukon XL (same thing). With the smaller SUVs for crossovers, you will have little cargo space and with 4 kids, you need room for stuff. You don't want to end up creating many projectiles, but piling things in the seats near your kids because your cargo space is full. I have a Yukon XL and I LOVE it! Sadly with 2 large seats...

How about a Ford Flex? It's around the size of the Pilot and Traverse. It looks, well, unique. Kind of like a super sized boxy Scion. Or like a 50's era station wagon...the cool kind of station wagon not the brady bunch kind. I think most people either love it or hate it. We recently looked at them and there are a lot of things I liked. It sits lower than a lot of crossovers. The middle row row comes in a 60/40 bench or captains...

I don't have a Pilot but I have a MDX with 3 sets of LATCH. We frequently do 3 across and it is really helpful for most situations to have LATCH in all spots because a lot of 3 across I have to use a combo of seatbelt and LATCH to get them all to work right. Personally if you are going to have this vehicle for a long time I would get the 09. Often with rebates (10 are getting or already are on the lots now) and lower interest with newer...

1992 Volvo 740 - Upgrade Seatbelts?
Published (2009-11-26 12:49:00)
When you write "lap belt", is it a lap-only belt or a lap/shoulder belt? You cannot use a regular locking clip on a lap-only belt: you must use a belt-shortening clip. Do the seatbelts not lock at all? They can lock at the retractor or at the latchplate. Lower LATCH anchors can not be retrofitted. Seatbelts may be upgradeable, but that would be a question for the dealer.

I say Rav-4. I don't care for installs in CRVs, as far as I remember. Will go look for pics. Ah, no, it was the Mazda. Well, I stay with my answer.

Of vehicles that are currently on the market, both the seven and 8 passenger Odysseys have five, two in the middle and three in the back row.
The 7 passenger Sienna has four (two in the middle, one 3rd row outboard and one third row center) and the 8 passenger Sienna has five, (three in the middle, third row same set up as the 7 passenger). No Sienna has a top tether anchor third row driver's...

I think most crossovers reqire one seat to fold forward to access the third row.
But then there is that mazda, is it the mazda 5 that just has 4 bucket seats in two different rows in the back? That might work for you. My brother just got one and really likes it. It is still smallish, if that's what you want.

I was also wondering, I would like to buy new carseats for the younger two. What two carseats would fit 3 across in this car, still leaving enough room for the booster?
My limit is about 100, times are hard and I need to buy two!

have you had a chance to look around?
Likely, because you will pay in cash, you can get something with a much higher price tag than if you were financing. A LOT of places will come down a few thousand when they can get cash upfront instead of later.

I wouldn't pay $10K more just for the 3rd set of LATCH. If you do 3 in a row in the 2nd row you are going to need to do seat belt installs anyway to make it all fit. The center belt in the Pilot is not that difficult for carseats anyway.

My DH has an 03 Forester and it's awful for car seats. Very short front to back and narrow. You can fit one Britax convertible in the middle (it puzzles between the front seats because the back plastic gets narrower) but putting a RF seat behind the driver or passenger is not pretty. Unless you are very petite. If you only plan to have one kid then it's fine. If you want more than one maybe ...

Ok, it is a 2003 Dodge Durango SLT. From what I can see on similar versions it does have outboard latch in the second row...but where are the tether anchors?
Thanks!
