one trick that almost always gets the worn out fuel pumps to work... lay down under the car...   pound on the bottom of the gas tank....  while someone else cranks the engine over...   they don't have to pump the gas pedal... fuel pumps go out a LOT......   the ethanol in the gas has proven its even harder on fuel pumps.. running the car really low on gas.. is almost always hard on the pump..

Well, a little more reading and a little more diagnosis has brought me to a conclusion.  I am curious if anyone here will have thoughts. I am basing some things on the premise that the passlock system shuts down the injectors and keeps them from firing.  If so, then logically I should have fuel on the rail, which I don't.   Also, I read where the passlock system if it kicks on, won't shut the car down if...

Well I took the other solenoid back in and just stuck with my old one. Two things I noticed immediately: 1. "Pop" noise and spark are gone(suggesting my solenoid is fine). 2. In my first post I mentioned a trip to dallas where the problem was particularly prominent. I just realized this issue probably started then. I was driving and then when everything was about to give out on me, I stopped the truck and looked under the hood(This...

Could it just be the battery?
Published (2009-12-27 00:50:00)
This morning, I get in my car to go to work, try and start it, nothing. The dome light turns off as soon as I turn the key. I locked it from the inside. I decided to try it again, hit the unlock button on my keys and it unlocked and lights flashed as they should. But car still wouldn't start. Tried to turn the key, same thing, lights went out and nothing happened. I did the same thing, locked it, and waited a few minutes before I tried...

Squeaking / Scratching /...

I have a pretty new Subaru Impreza with a manual transmission.... As of late there has been a very faint but noticeable squeaking sound when releasing the clutch into gear. I think it happens at all gears, but it's most noticeable in lower gears (most likely because I'm going slower, so it's easier to hear). I can only hear it with the windows open, not from inside the car, and it sounds like it's coming from underneath the...

i will have to do a little research... i have not had to tangle with the 2001 pass lock system... do you have access to a scan tool.. that can read live data.. and CAN enabled for gm..??? generic scan tools don't always read all the systems... first.. i would bet that your fuel pump is bad... does your ignition key have the pellet in the shank??? if so.. give the ignition lock cylinder a ...

first.... do you have a digital volt meter... they can be had for between 5 bucks and 25 bucks... you are going to need it.. test the battery voltage... engine off... run head lights for one minute then turn them off ... set you digital volt meter to 20 volts DC scale.. 12.65 volts in 100 percent charge... 12.45 volts is 50 percent charge.. 12.25 volts is 25 percent charge.. with the ...

yes... it could be just the battery that has lost its reserve capability.. charge the battery fully... have it load tested at almost any parts store... most have a computerized load tester... many of them will drag it out to your car for a quick load test.. and an alternator test... while it is hooked up.. with the amp clamp on the cars battery cables... and the engine is shut off... see...

change the MAIN RELAY...... use a mirror on the floor to the left of the brake pedal... this allows you to see up under the dash board.. you will also need a flash light.. the main relay is hidden up high... held in place with a 10MM nut.. (the socket size is 10MM) it usually takes a 12 to 18 inches of extensions to reach up that high.. your model might be lower... all hondas have a main...

my thought is close to the cap and rotor... but it is the ignition coil.... i have known mechanics who keep a spray bottle of water on the side of their tool box... used for cleaning stuff.. and to squirt suspect ignition coils.... spray them with water and the engine dies... this indicates that the coil is leaking high voltage to ground.. you did not say which motor you have/// 2.2 or 4...
