Thanks guys for all of you help. I feel confident in the shiva-x2. I'll be sure to write a review on it once I get it installed.

if he has room for ported; DD1500 series or 3500 series. if not; IDMax, sundown, etc.etc.etc. bunch of options. look for decent 1w/1m sensitivity and impressive 1-way xmax to find a few options. after seeing the amp and that it will only give 500w @ 1 ohm. i suggest a pair of 4 ohm dvc or a single dvc 2 ohm driver to get the most available power. with that limited amount of power, i suggest try to achieve spl by means of surface area. so try...

The bxi2608d doesn't even come close to rated power. This amp is inexpensive and actually does rated power @ 14.4V. It was benched by a member over @ SSA. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AUDIOPIPE-30...item35a2dabe22 The AQ amp will do massive amounts of power if you have the juice available. What do you have for an electrical system? http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQ3500D.htm $549 shipped

If you want the bass to sound clean and precise go sealed, if you want it to be a little louder, go ported. Ive got a 12 in a ported box and I listen to both rock and rap as well. It does well for both.

I 100% completely agree with you guys that the Shiva will be the more transparent, less distortion driver of the two. But just as a note to the OP; Unless you have auditioned a similar sub before, Both of these drivers are probably going to to be amazinglymo accurate than anything that you've owned in the past. As far as accuracy goes, I don't know if any difference between these two will be audible by someone who isn't a very...

Just curious, what kind of headunit did he get? That amp is only $270. And the wiring was probably not more than $100.

From the recommended RMS power chart provided by JL it looks like the 10w6v2 is comfortable at around 350wrms. I think you made a great amp choice. It will leave you with some nice headroom. I also looked at this amp for myself. It has gotten many nice reviews. Plus, for $130 it's hard to beat. Just make sure you have the space for it!

I think your sub and amp are just fine, it's the box that's limiting the deep bass. If there are bass boost settings on the amp or headunit you could try to boost it real low, like at 35 hz or something, but be careful, because it's very easy to clip your signal. Ported boxes usually deliver more output at lower frequencies. The thing is, the port has to have certain dimensions ...

Those are a great choice for a set up. A sealed box will do fine. If you're worried about output go ported.

Since you didn't post any relevant info: Budget, goal - SPL/SQ, ohm load with amp specs, box specs I'll suggest this nice set of 10's! http://www.woofersetc.com/p2118/PWE2...-Subwoofer. htm http://www.woofersetc.com/p7907/V-ma...-Subwoofer. htm Those CV's sound like nice deep 12's. Very impressive woofers.
